RX8 Nemesis Clutch Replacement
Hi there fellow RX8 lovers, I have a 2007 RX8 Nemesis in copper red, I have just found out that it's a UK limited edition with only 200 being released. The clutch is on it's way out and I need to get it fixed though do not really want to spend a huge amount of money. Do any of you great people know how much it would cost to get the clutch sorted, it might be the clutch plate as I could smell burning and lost transmission and it think there was an issue with the master cylinder prior to that(been a few months slipping). The car has only done 32,000 miles and every time I look at her on the drive I fall in love but I have had to buy a new car to get me to work and back.

Re: RX8 Nemesis Clutch Replacement
The original clutch was made by Exedy and can be cheaper to buy in an Exedy box, rather than a Mazda box.
This is where I'd buy mine from https://www.mazdarotaryparts.com/MAZDA- ... ANSMISSION especially as MRP do discount for RX8OC members
https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/members ... Select.php
Cheap clutches (e.g. blueprint) don't last 5 minutes when subjected to the Renesis output, but MRP do also offer a budget clutch that should survive better.
Add your location to your profile and we may be able to suggest a rotary specialist in your area that can supply and fit a clutch.
BTW, continuing to drive with a slipping clutch wasn't the best plan, as you may also need a new flywheel now, as well as the clutch

Re: RX8 Nemesis Clutch Replacement
Hi 'dude,welcome to the forum
First of all, note that doing anything cheap on an '8 is the way to further expense (not that far) down the road..
RX8's came with an Exedy clutch as standard, and you're highly advised to replace with the same - cost is about £300,and then you'd have labour costs on top of that, unless you're capable of doing the job yourself Also, don't just replace the plate, renew the whole unit - Exedy kits come as a full 3-piece in any case.
As for the master cylinder, unless it's visibly leaking,it's usually the slave cylinder, mounted on the bellhousing, that gives problems, indicated by gradually more difficult gear changes and excessive free play in the clutch pedal.
If it's been slipping for some time, with only 32,000 on the clock, then possibly the clutch pedal to actuator rod adjustment isn't correct. Wriggle down into the footwell and look up at the clutch pedal - there should be a small amount of freeplay between the pedal and the actuator rod that goes through the bulkhead. There's an adjustment screw that alters this setting..if it's been wound down too much, the pedal may not be returning fully, thus keeping the clutch from biting fully and slipping. Worth a check

Re: RX8 Nemesis Clutch Replacement
Hi and cornishdude ... for what it is worth, I would have said the same as warpc0il about where I'd get a new clutch from.
