The Super Street Tein kit was superseded by the improved Tein Flex Z kit, which we have already sold many of.

Amazing ride when set soft for the road, soaking up our UK pot holes and bumps like stock suspension never could, then due to the huge adjust-ability your RX-8 can be transformed into an efficient track day car.

Pleased to say that in all the years we have sold these we have never had an issue with any Tein product.

These come as complete replacement struts and If ordered we can supply the Tein Flex Z kit in just a few days at the moment

More details can be found on the link below and dont forget, as a full club member your 5% discount code can be applied to this product.

I have the flex z with edfc and can't fault them. If you find yourself wanting to go to the Surrey meet at some point let me know and you can have a little drive and see what you think. Rameshr had a drive recently at a surrey meet as he had similar question to you and seemed to like them. Maybe pm him to see his unbiased thoughts on the test drive he had :thumleft:

Does the Tein Flex Z coilovers adjustment cover the ride quality/stiffness of both standard and PZ suspension? How does the ride height differ from the lower 15mm on the PZ?

Due to the adjustable dampers, on the softest setting you can go the suspension would probably feel softer than stock but then you can also go race track hard if you want.

As for height the unit itself is fully adjustable for height so you can have the car so low you would have trouble getting over speed bumps or have it set at 4X4 ride height, in other words you set the height exactly where you want it.

Lastly these kits fit "any" RX-8 Model of any year.

I hope this helps

Thanks Clive
After 11 years my PZ springs are breaking (2 rears in the last year) so was looking for original spares but they're becoming difficult to source and of course they'll always be the same age as the broken ones. Hence I'm thinking of complete replacement. I don't track race but like the handling/cornering of my PZ's Bilstein/Eibach combo. I do drive hard at times! The other complete set I was looking at was the Bilstein B12 pro-kit, but doesn't appear to be height and damper adjustable? And looks like I need to used parts from my present set? Does the Tein Flex Z come complete or do I need to use parts from my current suspension?

As in the picture above you get a completely new strut assembly including top mounts to bolt straight on.

Okay. Will I need to use my old Upper Spring Seats on the rears?
And.....just to confirm, this set is for all 4 corners?
Sorry for the questions

No worrys about questions Dave, the questions with answers helps you understand exactly what your spending your hard earned money on ;)

If you look at the picture you can see that you get a completely new assembly keeping nothing to do with your old suspension strut and yes the kit is for all four corners.

Hope this helps.

That makes it very tempting to opt for these over the basic model... Much easier/faster to fit

Your photo clarifies what they look like. I've included just 3 of the various photos from the web which has had me rather confused as to how they fit. All are supposed to be the correct model VSM56-C1SS3.

Probably a lot of places just use a generic picture, so that will be a set for another car

Yes, it's just a little irritating not getting the right info. To me the last one looks the closest match to my existing PZ stock coilovers, but isn't correct unless it's an old type. However, you're correct wiggles, much easier to fit than using parts from the existing shocks/springs.

My Tein Flex Z coilovers arrived today. Will need to read over the instructions before I do anything. It gives various measurements to set before fitting but not sure as I'm fitting to a PZ and want the same ride height and as close to the PZ spring force.

Before fitting, on flat ground measure between the top of the wheel arch and the ground to give your base measurement (when setting the height on a road car I normally set the front 1/2" lower than the rear.

You will find the locking rings are not tightened so before installing wind the threaded part into the bottom of each strut till it comes to a stop then lock off.

You will now set the height of the car via the top adjusting rings once installed, this will give you the correct pre-load on the springs.

For installation if you follow the two links below from the instructions for RX-8 Racing Beat Spring sets it will help.

Thank you Clive

Just to clarify for my DIY head......

Set the coilovers as per their recommended measurements in the instruction booklet, fit to car making sure bottom lock ring is torqued up (length of shock set), lower car and check height relative to originals. Then finally adjust height using the top rings and therefore the spring pre-load. So if I wanted the car lowered I'd reduce spring pre-load?

On these to lower or raise, you wind the shock into / out of the bottom body section.

The spring adjusting part is for spring pre load only. You don't want to touch that for height setting.
