Eurolineas carbon bonnet?

Post by Phil Bate » Fri Apr 28, 2017 9:26 am

I'm looking for a vented carbon bonnet and came across this from dcperformance. I particularly like the stock-like detail of the underside which seems to be finished to a high standard and it looks to be well constructed.

Has anyone had one, or anything else carbon related from Eurolineas?

Can't speak for the bonnets but ive had experience with DC perfromance. My BBK too twice as long as they estimated to arrive and for this time I had no tracking info. Dan who is the boss there did everything he could to resolve this matter but it took a long time to get to the bottom of it which was an issue with the factory rather than the company. They did however give me a 10% discount off my order and can't fault the service on their part. Just be aware they probably don't have that sitting on the shelf and it might take longer than expected.

Yes these are a drop-ship (as most things are these days) from the manufacturer in Spain, est. 3 weeks. Thanks for the service feedback :thumleft:

The ad says ...

"It is not recommended that gas bonnet struts are used. These are designed for much heavier metal bonnets and may deform or even damage the carbon fibre bonnet"

For all their cf bonnets, most of which would be replacing steel originals.

They don't state the weight and I wonder just how it compares with our alloy original.

I've certainly found some cf bonnets are heavier, though more wobbly.

True, every CF bonnet I've lifted has been at least slightly heavier and I expect this will be too. Ventilation is the name of the game here though, that and it looks pretty cool 8)

I bought a set of BC coilovers from them for the Stagea. Even though it said in stock on the website they weren't, but in all fairness it only took them a couple of hours to email me and let me know, and a lead time of 10 days i could cope with. They arrived exactly when promised, so not all bad....

The vents look quite a long way back towards the windscreen if you plan to extract air.

Do the top vents work with the rain shields fitted?

Some designs have slots in the shields but I can't see any in the pics

Seibon do a dry carbon vented bonnet. It's stupidly expensive, of course (£2k), but this may be the only one that actually saves significant weight over the standard bonnet. It would be interesting to see the actual weight, if anyone has ever bought it....

Tentatively looking at something like this. Just checked your build thread Phil to make sure you hadn’t fitted one :) Any particular reason why you didn’t go down this route? :-k Am conscious about fitment issues, but as you mentioned earlier in this thread cooling is the name of the game :thumright:

If it's just cooling I have n15 design vents in my bonnet and seem to help cooling and decrease front end lift. Fiddly to fit but I like them.

I can't recall exactly why but I wasn't too impressed with their response at the time for some reason. I also read some less than favourable reports about them, so I left it for the time being.

I got the same sort of rain trays..... and then modded them so that they have vent mesh slats/ either side of the tray also modded the rain tray with a water out let pipe that leads to my screen washer to top up the two washer bottles 1 head light washer and 2 screen washer with an over flow pipe that leads out of the bottom of the engine bay just incase theres to much rain and keeps every thing nice and clean,..... also my trays are fitted with heavy duty locating magnets this makes getting the tray off and on easy..... ;) ..

you can just see the two pipes leading down from the rain tray to the washer bottles sorry this is an old photo....this front bumper was replaced this year....

Image

and my carbon bonnet has gas struts they have been modded so as not to warp the shape of the carbon fitting ;)
