If you're planning to cut the hole then measure the old tank carefully and make the hole slightly smaller than you'd think.

A bit too small and it might need a good shove but too big and it'll leak, or fall out

hi there,i can only tell you what i did on my car which has been very successful. some people drain the coolant to be able to remove hose that needs to be crossed. i found it easier to remove oil lines from omp and reconnect on the other side of said hose. cleanliness is essential at this stage as is taking care not to over stress oil lines. what i then did was premix a couple of tanks of fuel as well as a backup. if you put just enough 2t in the tank to come just up the delivery pipe, and run car for a short time only you will see a marked drop in level very quickly assuring you that your instalation is running properly ,also check for leaks. when happy with result fill up 2t tank, and what i did was mark some graduation marks on clear tank to be able to monitor consumption.

not sure what you mean by old engine oil. as for the oil feed lines maybe do it when engine is just cool enough for you to work on it as they should be at their most flexible then.

I know this is daft and sorry, but please make sure your 2-stroke choice has a good cold weather range as some of the popular ones are not that great in the cold. They thicken a fair bit and might not flow that well.
