Asking for feedback and info AFTER you brought it? That's a new way of doing things

Re: Green induction kit
thought i would mention we had been running the track rx8 we had without a filter as it revved so much better honest iv'e read all the bumf about the airbox etc and filter but the difference is very small we have run filterless for 17000 miles 12 trackdays and a jaunt around the south of france with no problems all we did was butcher the airbox by removing all the plastic and removing the vfad thing that hangs down .i know it isn't an ideal set up but it kinda proves the point to me that filters are not the be all and end all cheers al
rxv8 build on the way

Re: Green induction kit
I thought I'd grown out of all that, thought that loud induction noise and big 'zausts were for the max power crew and boy racers.....but I went mad and bought the Blitz SUS induction kit, it's loud, its beyond loud, it makes the interior trim (esp the dash dials) shake like they're loose!! The head's turn, and you can't help but smile, but there is absolutely no evidence of the kit when you're just tootling through quiet areas, which is great!

Re: Green induction kit
I had the Blitz kit on mine and it is hilariously loud! In the 231 it shrieks like a banshee at 9000rpm. It idles rough though. I've got a Racing Beat on at the moment and it's a lot quieter. I must be getting older as I'm also fitting a quieter exhaust too!

Re: Green induction kit
My Wife has got me one of these kits but the instructions are not great.
I have had a look at a few other instructions such as the AEM kit, and it says that you need some vacuum link and remove the sensor as its not needed. Now if its there its needed in my opinion. Does this sound right. I have attached the item in question.

Re: Green induction kit
That part you have circled looks like the vacume part on the back of the airbox. It is used for the Vfad system (on high power engine only 231) it opens up the 2nd air intake (direct air intake) over a certain rev's (6-7000, i think) If you are replacing the full air intake pipes then it can be disconnected and taken off as it will not be needed as 2nd air intake comes off when fitting induction kit but remember to block pipe connection off at engine side to keep the vacume in the engine. There is a topic on this forum somewhere about it all Vfad system.
Hope this helps.

@ gingergool
If you're fitting an intake kit and removing the standard airbox, [urlw=http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... 15&t=35107]could you spare one of the rubbers that held the airbox?[/urlw]

Re: Green induction kit
Sorry warpc0il, I always keep everything, plus I was missing one anyway. I know its not perfect but why not just wrap some black elections tape around the bit the goes into the rubber. That should stop if from moving around.
I fitted the kit today. Took about an hour as the instructions were well, non-existent. But got there and feck me what a noise. Its mental and just what I was after. Just need the exhaust now that even louder :-)
