Greddy oil pan

Post by countzero »

Anyone got one of these fitted?

My sump is pretty corroded and I was considering one of these over the standard Mazda one.

Also how much are they? seen a few at the £250 mark but would have to import from North America so import duty and shipping to go on top

cheers

I've not seen any bad reviews for the Greddy pan, other than the landed cost in the UK.

Here's [urlw=http://www.rx8performance.com/products/ ... ty-oil-pan]another alternative[/urlw], which comes with [urlw=http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... 48&start=0]$30 club discount[/urlw] (that might just pay the customs charges) so that's £187 + shipping.

Import duty is 4.5% + VAT at 20? so should be about 1/4 of the actual price. Shipping is fairly cheap if you use a worldwide courier like UPS you'll still have an admin fee of about 10 (ish) for the clearing house but no noticeable delay like USPS who hand over to Royal Mail or Parcel force thats where the delays occur.. Your best bet is not necessarily N America but the costs aren't as high as most people think, just make sure its labelled as car parts / engine. Its when its a cheap item it becomes expensive, especially when proper documentation is not attached, a 10 dollar item could easily land at 40 pounds plus, but when its dear stuff (250 dollars is a lot of money) the import costs become proportionally more reasonable, especially with a fairly small / light item like an oil pan (compared to a full engine).

Revival of an old thread but useful for discussion.

The Rx8 sumps are all looking a bit worse for wear these days and the early ones were never really that good for controlling the oil flow around the engine pick up meaning oil starvation when on track. Say hello to the RRP Rx8 billet sump to be Machined from 6061 Aluminium and then Anodised in Dark Grey for that nice clean look.

Features:
1. Oil channelling to stop oil starvation.
2. Contoured bottom, the only sump on the market to have this feature which aids in keeping oil around the pick up as well as more effective draining due to the relocated drain plug.
3. Cooling fins to help keep our rotary engine cool.
4. Baffle plate.
5. Two Turbo oil returns - AN8.
6. Gauge Sender ready - M10.
7. Relocated Drain plug - M20.
8. Sealed with an o-ring, no more sealant.
9. Provides extra rigidity and strength to the engine block.
10. RRP logo :)

Price TBC but expect £400 approx

Just to make all aware if they are in the market for a new Sump Pan, the New RRP Sump is now available:

Website Blurb:

The Rx8 sumps are all looking a bit worse for wear these days and the early ones were never really that effective for controlling the oil flow around the engine pick up. This results in oil starvation when the car is used on fast road and track applications. In the extremis this will cause catastrophic engine failure and at the very least greater wear to the front and rear Rotor and Stationary bearings reducing the life of your engine.

The RRP sump is designed to combat Oil starvation using a unique “Bathtub” design limiting the oils fore and aft movement while naturally providing more oil around the engine pick up, this combined with the internal walls which combat lateral movement and a separate Baffle Plate stops oil starvation while also completely stopping what is known as oil burps.

Machined from one piece of 6061 Aluminium and Anodised in Anthracite for corrosion protection this sump will outlast the lifetime of the car. The OEM level sensor is retained, simply removed from the original sump and refit to the RRP sump with no loss of functionality.

Design Features:

-3.23L Capacity. (OEM c3.75L)
-Oil channelling to stop oil starvation.
-Contoured Bathtub desing, the only sump on the market to have this feature which aids in keeping oil around the pick up as well as more effective -draining due to the relocated drain plug which is at the centre of the “Bathtub”.
-Cooling fins which increase the effectiveness of the oil cooling system.
-Separate 3mm Aluminium Baffle plate.
-Two oil ports which could be used as Turbo returns and/or Gauge Sender ports – AN8 ORB 3/4 16 UNF
-Gauge Sender ready – M10 x 1.
-Relocated Drain plug – AN8 ORB 3/4 16UNF
-Sealed with a custom O-ring, no more sealant required.
-Provides extra rigidity and strength to the engine block which is required in higher power applications.
-Extremely tough will withstand significant impacts which would destroy Aluminium cast sumps.
-OEM level sensors compatible meaning no loss of functionality.
-RRP logo
