Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
Can anyone recommend what mesh to use on the Mazdaspeed front end? The only thing i know is i want it black, not silver.
Not sure what size pitch is recommended for adequate protection to the oil coolers and radiator? Is there any reason to go for ABS plastic rather than stainless steel?
Any recommendations are welcome, my bodywork is now moving forward so want to buy something soon.
Cheers in advance

I use this stuff as it's tough, UV stable, cheap and easy to replace if required.

Amazon link was the first one to come up but it's available in all sorts of places, including Poundland

baring in mind its for gutters, does that stuff only come in 16x5 strips? i would want something to cover the whole middle opening in one piece. having to join loads together will look a bit naff?

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
What's the deal with the contrasting grey lower sections of the MS kit? Is it always that colour because thats the look of the genuine? Is it widely accepted that it would look bad if all matching body coloured, even on a black RX8? And what is the 'official' colour of those sections that I should tell my body guy?

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
I originally tried gutter guard but it melted so then used some aluminium mesh that is designed for car grills on my rear bumper, it holds its shape and is easy to mould, has lasted 3 years now with no corrosion.

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
Thanks for the replies guys. I sort of got off topic on my own old thread though, rather than start a new thread. My last post was asking about the paint colour differences on the MS kit, not mesh anymore....

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
AFAIK there is no official code for the grey - at least none that i could find and that included phoning mazda themselves.
The colour i had mine painted was - a39 (Mitsubishi graphite gray) which seems spot-on.
Not the best pics but gives you an idea

They’re beautiful pictures. Is that a genuine rear or replica?

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
Replica unfortunately, tried to get an original at the time but they were pretty much impossible to come by.
Its been on 10 years and still looks in perfect condition so i cant complain really
Been trying to get hold for some genuine R-Magic side skirts for years but they are even more difficult to come by without importing from japan and taking out a 2nd mortgage
Thanks
Paul

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
Looks great. Would you happen to have any pictures of how you braced the bottom on the tabs? I see the genuine came with Z shaped brackets but obviously nothing with the reps. Did you source some similar brackets?pfletcher83 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 12:48 pmReplica unfortunately, tried to get an original at the time but they were pretty much impossible to come by.

Also, have you left it with no fog light? Or does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement foglight that can be fit nicely into the bumper?

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations
I didnt fit the bumper but i have been under and can say that the bottom tabs are not secured to anything. Its secured to the bumper and in the wheel arches
I noticed it when i went to wire in a fog light for MOT. It did concern me at the time that windflow could cause it to bow, but ive had someone follow me at motorway
speeds and there is no movement, still solid to this day.
I dont have permanent fog light, i just bolt on a cheap one for MOT, or when its foggy
