Car PC Gauges

Post by dino1now »

Just finished installing some new Gauges using Dashcommand on my car PC. Still got a few more modifications to do and I'm working on a night skin to match the OEM blue and red Gauges.

I use this screen the most and it's helpful for making sure the car is up to temp so I can beep it. The temp gauge on the OEM dash reaches 12 o'clock at 62 degrees, but I don't beep till the temp gets to 80.

This one looks good but just repeats the standard gauges. I must fix the typo from MPG to MPH  The Rev counter is good though, I've got it to turn red when it hits the beep as a visual guide.

This is a work in progress screen giving me gear efficiency info and tells me what gear I can drop down to. The gears that would exceed max RPM go red to indicate they should not be used. Likewise the upper gears only turn blue if the engine load would be below a set threshold. Quite good for telling you the best gear to be in. The fuel flow gauge has yet to be calibrated before it is reliable. I've got to change the speed bar on the left hand side from KPH to MPH.

More stuff to follow.......

very nice setup. Never was a fan of carputers, simply due to the booting up, or having to have them permently hibernate etc  But that layout is very nice, I assume you have to open that program though, everytime you want the gauges though opposed to it starting up with 'em?

I've got it set up to run with Centrafuse and whatever is running when I turn the car off comes back up when I start it up again. I'm also part way into setting up voice commands to switch between Media, Gauges and Nav. Got to get a slightly more sensitive mike or I might have to reposition the existing one.

You'll need a noise-cancelling mic.

I use this Skin with my dashcommand, how did you get it to go full screen as mine still has song titles at the top?

I use apploader, free download from Centrafuse plug ins, allows you to run the program as if it were independently running. You can run as many instances of apploader for each plug in. I use two, one for Dashcommand and the other for Garmin PC sat nav.
