Removing Mazda Logo Badges, How Do I Do It?

Post by The G Man » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:18 pm

Ok I've done a search with no definitive result  I want to take my Mazda logo badges off for my next wee project.

What I need to know is:

1) What is the pitch of the holes for the front and rear badges?

2) What is the easiest way of removing the said badges?

3) What pitfalls, if any, should I be wary of?

I've trawled this section and can't find the answers to my Q's, they may have fallen off the end

there is a thread called 'ghetto de-badge' that lists what badges leave what holes. Removing the main 'M' badges will not be a 'wee project' !

hello George

definately know the front mazda corporate badge on the bumper is held in with pins and flexy clips...i remember noticing that from removal of front bumper......they are quite small holes but it would still require a paint job for the front bumper

rear badges on the boot lid....i think one is sticky taped(Mazda) and one may be pinned(RX8) and i think the rear corporate is pinned too.....so it could be a bootlid respray too :?

expensive job george?£200-£300 at Mazda main dealer all in....you could have a playstation 3 for that.....or put it towards a Newcastle United season ticket for next season

Thanks for the replies so far 8)

I read "Ghetto Debadge" thread, didn't give me the difinitive answers I was after though.

Bumper off it is then for the front one, will investigate the rear one on my day off.

Does the pinned ones have an adhesive backing as well? Or just the pins and clips?

The RX-8 on the boot is fixed with just adhesive (double sided tape) the Mazda name and Logo are fixed with pins and adhesive, the Logo on the front bumper is fixed with pins and adhesive.

OK G,

I will try my best in answering them, the front bedge is a bumper off job yes. Both front and back Mazda badges are held by tape and pin, hence removing will required filling in very fine holes and repaint for perfect finish. whe holes are about 2mm in radius and there are two of them.

The rear Mazda Logo and badge are remove by first removing the boot lid interior lining, then undo the clip/pin that holds the badges in, and pull out with a bot of force as they are stucked by tape as well.

RX-8 badge and side badges are easy, just use a fishing line/dental floss to take out off the base of the sticky tape. Then polish off tape mark afterward.

These are as much as I can remember, mine was done a year and a bit ago, so please forgive me if I miss anything or remember anything wrong. Good luck in your new 'project'.   Look forward to the result, photos please!

There wasn`t any clips on the back of any of my badges as the pins are there just to position the badge in the correct place - then the adhesive holds it in place, just cut through the adhesive with some fishing line or dental floss.

When she see's the bumper lying on the drive she'll know somit's up

If I send her to a pampering weekend then do what I plan she won't notice 8)

It's getting the ups/tnt/royal mail trained to come only when I'm in that's the problem

She maybe buying me some bling for Crimbo  8)

Some of them rims on US sites are magtastic

Hmmm with G-man's obsession with rotary related bling ie:

1 car badge x 1
2 caliper decals x 4
3 caps under bonnet x4
4 scuff plates x 2
5 number plate bolts x 2
6 number plates x 2 (OC reference)
7 number plates x 2 (in the middle of the Euro stars)
8 OC stickers x 2 (rear window)
9 OC tax disc holder
10 OC member sticker (front window)
11 B pillar x 2
12 3rd brake light x 1
13 mats x 2

I don't think it will ever be stealth mode  or are all these going as well G-man?
