The power supply to the obd port might be dodgy

Not sure if the rx8 suffers with the same issue but the mx5 leaks water on through the scuttle panel and drips straight onto the obd plug. I've regularly found odb adapters completely filled with water

Do the clone ELM373 actually measure and report ignition status? I think the com port side is powered by the PC (I seem to remember it enumerates the port on plugging in).
I had a battle at the weekend with enabling cruise; had to switch on full FIFO in the COM port settings of my windows 10 PC and run at 38400 baud to program. Everything else worked fine as default settings for reading but the timing for programming was off enough to stop it working.

I think actually the problem is my new usb obd. It doesn't light up when connected to the car only like my wifi one does, and isn't working with forscan either. My wifi one does. I'm going to return it and hunt for another suitable one
