Value is equal to willingness. If I advertised it properly, I would get 11k eventually. A guy in work was only considering yesterday as a toy alongside his 335d after looking at one for 6k online with 82k somewhere, then asking why they are so cheap. I pointed out he can have mine for 11k cash on less than half miles and all stuff on it. He worryingly seemed quite interested. I was only half serious as still not 100% sure on selling yet..........

There are RX-8's out there that come up for sale from time to time that have sat under covers in garages for years.

My one for example, a 2007 '231. I paid £3,500 for it in May this year with 30,000 miles on the clock. The chap who had had it before me brought it a year prior with only 22,000 miles on the clock.

I think it's definately a case of luck and responding quickly to the seller to do the deal if you are looking for a good low milage one that comes up.

Yes, granted you are going to have to replace certain bits on it due to ageing. All I've had to replace on purchase was the air-con compressor (£210 from Ali-Express) and I overhauled the brakes with new discs and pads and a full rebuild kit for all corners (as one caliper was'nt working correctly as there was serious uneven wear in the pads).

And recently a pair of Pirelli P-Zero 245-40-18 Tyres on the rear... Yes 245's do fit and the rolling diameter is within 1% of the 225-45-18's.

There is a stark difference in pricing between a standard S1 and an R3. They are very different cars. You had quite a good deal at 3.5k for a 30k mile.

2 RX8 traders have said the price of mine at 11k is about right, having both seen it many times. Not that they personally would want to pay that at what they want things in at trade car prices, but have reassured that the car is around the correct price point.

I'm becoming less and less inclined to sell it anyway as the time goes on. Between now and January will be a big factor in the decision making and what the future of the car holds. Whether it sits under a cover for quite some time, or it's sold, or even I'll carry on using for next show season. What the future holds is uncertain at the moment. As many have pointed out though, Selling it would likely end my RX8 days, as I'd never be able to replace this one these days with similar. Or certainly highly unlikely too.

If it's worth £11k to the right buyer and you think it will sell for that this year or in the next few years still sell for £10k+. I'd say hang on to it and enjoy it whilst you have it. You'll struggle to find another as good.

On a side note to this, Craig Toon the editor of RUSH Magazine who I got the route for this drive off, messaged me and asked if I knew anyone in the club with a pretty much standard RX-8, as he would like to do a feature about it for the magazine.

Yours seems to be the most prestine original one in the club.

It's likely the most pristine and near original R3. Though not fully original. For a magazine picture other than the Brakes it would be hard for most people to tell the difference. If he wants an R3 then happy to oblige this month before it goes away for winter. I believe Derek has a stock S1 2004 in red which he has had from new also.
