Club Drive'n'Meet - November 16th - North of England - Peak District That Includes Snake Pass. Anybody Interested???

I'm a Newbee to the RX-8 world here in the UK and the owners club. I don't know how many members there are in the club who live in the North of England still as I've yet to see another RX-8 on the road in my 5 months of ownership. I know they are a dying breed...

Anyhow enough twaddle... What I am proposing is a get together and a drive around the Peak District that includes 'Famous' Snake Pass road. It will be a 50 mile loop, starting and finishing in the corner of TESCO's car park in Glossop post code SK13 8HB.

It is a drive devised by RUSH Magazine who are on the internet https://www.rushmagazine.co.uk/post/the ... k-district If it is going to become a go'er, I'll contact RUSH to see if they can help me further or offer any further info with the route that's not on the web-page.

I can be the lead car and I will sort out the sat-nav point to point stuff of the route. Unless someone elso wants to lead?

I am looking to make the date Saturday 16th November 2024. If it happens and is successful, I can organise further jollies in 2025.

Any 'Serious' interested parties wish to join me could they add to this post. I think there is a way that you can produce a list of definate and maybe participants on this forum somehow... No Doubt somebody will show me how - EDIT by casey - I have added a list below, which you should be able to simply edit as and when people post up below.

CAR PARK INFO... WHEN YOU GET TO THE PUB, TURN UP THE ROAD AJACENT TO IT, MANOR PARK ROAD, AND DRIVE UNTIL YOU SEE A LARGE CHURCH LIKE BUILDING ON YOUR RIGHT. THE CRICKET CLUB CAR PARK ENTRANCE IS AJACENT TO THIS. IT IS A 3 MINUTE WALK BACK DOWN TO THE PUB.

There could be a few interested. I know Silviu (Thatturborx8) from Piston and Rotor is Manchester way, Rich T and Wilberry are not far from that area towards Derby, Harry is Doncaster way and maybe persuaded to come across....I could be interested myself pending weather as we go towards the end of October. Mine is a bit of a garage queen and tends to go away for winter and SORN at the end of October. If this picks up interest and the weather/roads are not being salted, then I will keep it taxed and come along.

If I had more notice to plan the trip and my car was working, I'd be interested in this kind of thing. would have to combine it with a visit to family since otherwise i'd be driving up from Cornwall, but that's normally doable.

Yes and it does take a few days with the forum as people sometimes only check in once every few days, so if it takes a week or so to start getting some hits, don't worry about it.

Right... Feeding Time! I've looked at Pubs and restaurants around Glossop and found this one close by called 'Sarah's Kitchen' at the Commercial Inn.
It seems to have a good selection of reasonably priced meals. Give me your opinions on it. I think it's not bad...

Just spoke with them in regards to parking the cars, This pub/restaurant sponsors the local cricket club who have a private car park. The lady who i spoke to said she could get the key and we all could park our pride and joys safely in there without any arseholes messing about with them or door bangers putting little dents and chips in ours. it is around 100yds up a quiet road from the pub.

They also stated that once we know the numbers of people going, they can book tables for us. They do food all afternoon and we can pre-book meals up front also so all the meals will be served together at the time we state we'll be there.

Just to keep you updated, we are considering a Commitee Meeting outing to this. We are due a meeting, and with it being end of Season it is not our usual (hopefully) lengthy ones, therefore I've floated an idea for the CM outgoing/incoming to attend and us conduct some business afterwards. This could in theory bolster numbers by upto 10 people.

DrewR3, Can't see why not tag on the meeting at the end of the day, makes sense really. The lady who I spoke to at the pub seemed to be very helpful in all aspects. I cannot see her objecting to this with a party of 10 who have just dined at her place, on the contrary I expect she'll be happy to sell a few more drinks etc.

I'll have a chat with her next week. One Idea i'll put by her is could we use the cricket club car park as our initial meeting point to set out from instead of Tesco's car park where there will be a lot of shoppers farting around on saturday morning I cannot envisage her objecting.

It'll be good if we could park our motors in the car park and go to the pub to all meet and have a brew (tea or coffee for us southerners) and a pee prior to setting off for the day.
