I went the other way, Newcastle to Cornwall - about as far away as you can get without leaving the country (though that wasn't intentional!)

There's at least as much rain here as there, but there's a lot of ocean around here skewing the numbers upwards
it never rains in cornwall. its just cornish sea mist...

Cheers Casey For sorting this for me.

If everyone has the route on their phones, if you/we get seperated you can get back omn the route.

Would anybody on the drive like to be the lead car. The reason I'm asking is that there are people coming alomg on the drive who know the ropes of leading the group who have done it before. When I organise another one next year, I'll probably lead that one as I'll know the ropes on how to do it then.

The golden rules are to keep the car behind in sight and if leading and a slower vehicle is encountered remember before you overtake that there are x number of cars behind you that will also need to overtake.
It can be tempting as a lead car to get carried away when there is an open road and passing opportunity!

I usually lead Convoys, but normally on roads I know. Your best having the lead car the one that knows the roads the best. Maybe Silviu or Will know the route and could assist?

Hi Chaps, I think we all are reliant on sat-navs.

Look at Casey's post above. If you open this google maps link on your phone it will automatically open google maps if you have them on your phone.

The route with all the junctions and commentry to assist you and direct you will open. I sorted the route to do this last week, Try it, it should work fine.

Please can I have some feedback on this if it works OK.

**** UPDATE ****

I've just opened up the club website on the internet on my phone and found Caseys post above. I've clicked on it on my phone and the route I devised comes up in google maps and is active to fire up and navigate the route for whoever's going to lead, With this info now DREWR3 you should be able to be the lead car...

If we all do this on our phones we'll all have the route if we get lost or drag behind to catch up again (or if mother nature calls)!!!

There is a difference between knowing the road and area when in lead, than just following the sat nav.

Local or previous knowledge of the area allows for the pre warning to everyone else of tight corners by rapid reduction in your speed over normal backing off, or the ability to know of an upcoming lay by that the lead cars can pull In to allow others to catch up.

I don't mind leading, but anyone who is vaguely familiar with the area would be better suited to.

Could i suggest that at this point we should add the time, place of meet and route map in the first post?
That will save most the trouble of having to scroll thru to find out this vital information?

Sorry I did not add this before. Bear in mind that this is my first attempt at organising a drive.

My first post was a case of 'putting the feelers out' to see if there was any interest from members in driving this drive. I never for one minute thought that it would escalate to nearly 15 people interested in participating on it, and a club meeting tagged on to it (at the same venue I organised for the start point of the run, and the meal at the end of it by the way).

I joined the club in May this year. I put the feelers out for this run because I got fed up of waiting for the club to organise something over the summer for northerners to participate in, and nothing much was forthcoming.

I dont know how to put the googlemaps route map link on the first page, but when i posted the first post there was a link to the route proposed to look at from RUSH Magazine's website.

The google map link has got specific data generated for this route and is not just a generic link.

I'll put the info on the first post now...

And you have done fantastically well!
You have put a meet together, you have attendance, it's all great🙂
Do not take any suggestions like criticism.
I think you are doing great organising this.
Many times people do the same, put feelers out then sort out all the details, however, to me once details have been established they must be added to the first post just to make it easier.

let me have your orders or let me know that you are not going to eat at the pub through the private messaging link on this site. I did send you all a message a week or so ago that's got the menu attached to it, so just reply to that.
