Will have to see how my various videos turned out. Fun drive. Good pub. Excellent turnout. Well organised. Made good time getting home too!

Enjoyed my 500ish mile trip this weekend.
The route was enjoyable and it's a shame we didn't have slightly nicer weather!
Didn't even use two full tanks of petrol for the entire weekend. Used 20L going around the route... Mostly in 3rd gear as it was a shift down to 2nd and never really a up to 4th type of drive.
Food was great and the pub was very accommodating!

Thanks to everyone who came along to my organised drive yesterday. I hope you all enjoyed your day, even though the weather was naff. I certainly did.
Thanks also from all who assisted me in piecing it together, being a newbie in the club. Particularly with the tech assistance on the forum and the required etiquette needed that is required to stage one of these ‘do’s.
Particular thanks go to (also newbies) Darrel and his brother, Mark (MazdaDaz on RX-8 UK OC) who navigated and were lead car yesterday - cracking job they did too!
As from all the positive feedback from all I wave received, I will next year hopefully be piecing together another couple of similar ‘do’s around the midlands /north of England area of the country with similar levels of organisation. Hopefully there will be similar uptake on them from club members, particularly as (hopefully) the sun will be shining on the day of the event!
Once again thanks to all, and I really enjoyed all your company and camaraderie with being part of this club…

A good point on the lead car and intuition from Darrel and Mark.
As both newbies and a considerable convoy to lead they did exceptionally well, including deciphering my various flashes and hand signals from behind them when required, correctly guessing things like pull back on the straight so we can see the line of cars, let the lights go red again so we can all go through together, oh **** I think we've made the wrong turn......
But in all seriousness, a very good lead. It's hard enough to lead a convoy that size without the challenges of not knowing the road themselves first, area or the added carnage of a busy town centre with failed traffic lights due to roadworks.
Top job.

Drew in your pictures, your gleaming white R3 looks a bit out of place with all our grey, black and multicoloured ones - (particularly one with with blue spoilers and red boots!) all looking a bit grubby in the dull grey weather up on the moor!

I can assure you Lawrence, that is the dirtiest and grubbiest that car has ever been. There was streaks on it by the end. Just taken my son to his swim class in it as the last drive out this year, will be putting that Ammo Reflex pro coating to the test with a snowfoam and rinse on return before, the Meguirs Orange Ceramic 2 part mix wash, dry and tuck away with her fleece cover and radiator for the winter. I think for Xmas this year I am going to get one of those bubble habitats from demon weeks to store in with air con to keep dry and regulated all winter. I may also take the bumper off to fit fog deletes and carbon dip the front black plastics including the deletes, maybe fit the Black Halo Racing ignition kit and new plugs while I'm doing the fresh fluids for winter and once I buy a new K+N element I shall fit my new AutoExe air filter holder from Harry.....just for some engine bay sprucing.Miluminations wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 8:39 amDrew in your pictures, your gleaming white R3 looks a bit out of place with all our grey, black and multicoloured ones - (particularly one with with blue spoilers and red boots!) all looking a bit grubby in the dull grey weather up on the moor!

That's me trying to play with the image poorly, as the actual camera shot was washed out with the fog and conditions.thatturborx8 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:36 amIn here looks like Gav the decorator had a go at the bonnet

Maybe the committee meetings could “rotate” around the country coupled to a drive out which would give both the committee and members another chance to meet and chat other than at shows etc;
Well done to all involved looks like a great event.

Just want to say, like everyone else, top job!! Thoroughly enjoyed the drive, and putting names to faces. Even the wife enjoyed the drive out. Next time hopefully will be able to stick around afterwards.

I've thanked Laurence elsewhere but do so again here, it really was a great day & went pretty much seamless, save for a wrong turn & me stealing Harry's meal!! I'll never live that one down...
I'll definitely be involved in the next one up this way if I can, and wouldn't mind joining in on others further afield either; it's a great way to see different parts of the country & to meet good & friendly folk!
Thanks everyone for helping me enjoy my realisation of a dream of RX8 ownership!!

The town referred to was Holmfirth where "Last of the Summer Wine" was filmed, which those of us of a certain vintage will recall. The Batty-ness of that part of the drive was suitably apt, I thought!!
