Great Job Will..... grasping the EC role to fullest effect. Organising fixed show attendance is great, but taking on unique membership drives and other spurious events for the club is an excellent progression. I look forward to the next ones or local drives/shows to get out to.

Thanks Will for organising today's meet and to everyone who attended it was great to see you
Apparently there was a crash on Snake Pass while we were having dinner, wasn't aware as I went home via Bamford. Hope you guys got home alright.

And let's not forget the kid serving drinks.
He had to apologise as he couldn't serve drinks to anyone if they'd had an engine swap.

Re: Club Annual Drive Out: Peak District Drive Out Mk2, Sunday 2nd June
Many thanks again will for organising...
And dropping me in it as convoy leader (blind leading the blind!). Google definitely knows I prefer the fast twisties - even taking us off the cat & fiddle! Sorry for those who don't like those roads - but as I'm not familiar with the routes I had little choice other than to follow Google!
Thanks to the traction society in Glossop, and a micra who doesn't know how to position for a right turn (thus blocking I rx-8s!) for making us nearly too late for our lunch!
I couldn't get any maps or data working for my return journey - but took a random punt on the a6013 over the reservoir, through Bamford and bakewell... Then some super roads I though was going to take me through Darley Dale and Matlock but somehow bypassed them with more super twisties (finally NSL not 50s!) and landed me on the M1 at Alfreton. M1 not so much fun, but taking my usual back-roads from j14 at MK home restored some sanity. Got home about 19.30.
Download pics - will post some when they're ready.

Re: Club Annual Drive Out: Peak District Drive Out Mk2, Sunday 2nd June
I was struggling to get Google maps to work as we left the pub, but then the wife got the iPhone maps working, so we mapped out the route through to Darley Dale and onto Matlock. It too took us along some narrow winding lanes, with two 8s in tow it felt like we were still on the drive.... but with me as "convoy leader" and not your good self!!SeanP wrote: βSun Jun 02, 2024 10:09 pmMany thanks again will for organising...

Yeah, you get some surprises with Google.
I think next time I'd try and dump it as primary navigation tool, as there aren't that many roads involved, but I'd need something there to get me to lunch on time

Re: Club Annual Drive Out: Peak District Drive Out Mk2, Sunday 2nd June
Google is fine - so long as you set enough way points of you want to 'force' a route and download the maps offline - so they work without a signal.
As one progresses the route - remeber to 'continue' to next way point or cancel last one if somehow skipped / missed.)
Lack of signal (and then me noticing I'd inexplicably switched off data!) didn't help too much.
Google is great at re-routing around road closures (it knows about) and if the data signal is good! Through Glossop, in hindsight - Google suggested a better diversion than the diversion signs I followed... Hey, ho!
