Big PH BBQ 24 - Saturday 22nd June

Post by Dr. FrankenRex »

Hey All,

After a resounding success this year, with a total of 48 cars across ages, brands and marques I thought I'd get to starting next year's event thread to strike whilst the iron is hot.

The joys in doing so mean I can also avoid Le Mans which has rudely stolen our normal weekend in 2024 as well as working around Rob's Ramp Day for those who wish to attend both.

As always, it'll be a personally organised event - with some added classic VW this time all being well.

I am also open to the idea of a food truck instead of a DIY BBQ, but that would depend on numbers a bit. The more we have, the more likely I'll be to do that, or maybe ask for donations before and on the day and get something daft like a hog roast.

Camping will still be available as last year.

I'll update this thread properly with some pictures and things later, but for now just post up if you fancy coming along!

its a good fun day/weekend so i'd be up for it.

options wise i would say BBQ is the way to go as it's just easier to work with and there is no additional expense/investment on the part of sorting out things such as food trucks or a hog roast.
Thanks, Stu

Are we brave/stupid/responsible enough to do our own hogroast instead of getting someone in 🤔

It is just a pig on a stick so can't be that hard 😂

My only thoughts on the BBQing side of things is that I do end up spending a lot of my time operating the BBQ rather than chatting to people. The hardship of being the host, to a point, which I don't mind doing, but as the numbers increase it gets harder and harder to achieve a balance.

I shall be in attendance with hopefully family this time with Harvey being older.

As for the poll, i went food truck kind of incorporating Hog roast aswell? Id be happy with all 3 anyway but i didnt want to select hog roast and negate other trucks. Unless your thinking old school home Hog roast and were digging a pit the day before? 😂

i completely understand where you are coming from with that, I'd not considered that you ended up grilling for most of the day.

it makes sense, i think it could be worthwhile visiting events local to you and seeing what food vendors are available local to you and what their rates are.

I have a mate who frequently puts on events in his local village, i'll ask him how they get food vendors involved in what they do.
Thanks, Stu

I know people with food vans, some of which are 8 owners/enthusiasts, so that's less of a problem, it was just the principle at this stage 😁

No clash this year by the looks of it so please put me down 😁 I'm happy with either BBQ or food van/s, if you want I can help out on the BBQ side or the food van as I got one sorted for something last year.
