Giving this a little :bump: for the start of next season following japfest. Will start to look at booking hotel numbers.

For all the newer members that are getting involved with the likes of Yakushi and Japfest, this is my annual drive out around some Welsh twisty roads for epic driving and views, with a luxury but heavily discounted hotel stay and meal on the Sat in the top hotel of the area.

Highly recommend people come along as we hit our 3rd year. This was the official road trip for the past 2 years, however members are looking into an alternate this year. So this is more of a relaxed general gathering.

Afternoon All,

A quick reminder of this and dusting off the thread as it will be on us before we know.

I have asked Naomi to get the room rate and food rate sorted for us this week hopefully. I will post the details up once we have confirmed a discounted rate, those whonare coming will then have until March please to ring the hotel, book the room type required and pay either your deposit or in full. Food will be paid on the evening.

Once booked. Please post on here so i can check you off the list. If you are looking at a twin room sharing with another member, please let me know at this point so I can check both members off.

Standby for the rate and then contact details. Anyone who does not have their name down yet, this is a popular event each year and we have a good laugh with various club members. This is now the 4th run I think, so will be a good trip out. See page 1 for further details.

Hi Drew.
Might bring another two or three RX8 owners along.
Will communicate them costs once you post them here and will confirm attendance.

OK, so we have the prices in after quite alot of negotiation. I am afraid after holding the price for us for 2 years, additional costs have caught up and there has been a £44 increase in the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate. Prices as follow for 3 course dinner and room with full breakfast in the morning. Dinner will be at 6pm with us looking at arriving there about 330pm to use facilities:

£235 for Sgl occupancy room with Dinner, B+B
£289 for dual occupancy Dbl or Twin room with x2 Dinner, B+B

I appreciate this is an increase in last year's, please can people confirm their attendance or removal again. If attending which room type you want so I can reserve them. You can then call and pay or deposit at your leisure. I assume the standard £50 deposit with payment on check out is still possible. Will confirm.

Thanks Silviu, we shall just check that others are also coming and then you can pay whenever. Let's give it a week or 2 for people to confirm or of course any additions if people would still like to put their name down, please comment below.

Unfortunately with another holiday booked shortly before, I just can't afford that kinda cost I'm afraid.

I'll have to bow out of this one.

I googled and found this hotel with a bar and restaurant.
Maybe you want to consider cheaper options like this.
I don’t know whether they do dinners, but you could look into it.
Note they seem to have a sizeable number of rooms too.

Thanks Andy, I'm hoping the £961 per night is a typo in that screenshot 🤣 if there is no interest In using the Quay again I have been toying with the Idea of people just find their own hotel to suit their budget in the area. Remove the Dinner element of the Quay but keep room rate if people did want to use that and eat elsewhere.

There is an amazing restaurant round the corner from me, 5 min from the hotel and on our route called "The Hayloft at Bodnant", it I'd part of the Bodnant Estate which has the famous Gardens etc. Plenty of parking, great food and reasonable price. £30 set menu usually for 3 courses.

There is a premier in at Afon Conwy 4 miles away, the Quay is 6 miles and The Hilton at surf snowdonia is also about 6 miles. All decent roads so a 10 min drive from that restaurant. And all with various prices for all budgets, of course there is also a million B+B in Llandudno about 10 miles away plus other smaller hotels.

We could end the drive on Day 1 at Bodnant. So people know where it is and it is on the way to where we would have been going. Everyone can then split to their hotels for a few hours before meeting back at Bodnant for 7pm meal. And again their large parking area would be the Start of Day 2.

If this is preferable to people if they would like to shop around, then please let me know ASAP

It’s £961 for 15 rooms. I was looking for flexibility for everyone to perhaps be in one place.

Really need people to confirm, pull out or decide on option B to find own accommodation please. As I need to cancel the room holds at the Quay. This is quite urgent, so far only Silviu, Dan and Andy have responded.

Thanks Ant. Don't book anything yet, I'm gathering whether this is still viable to run. I'll amend front to option B vote

OK the final numbers are in, 5 confirmed, 1 possible.....

Quite down from the 15 reserved rooms and 20 cars.

It's likely we still get the reduced rate, but is this even still worth running with likely 5 cars. Makes little difference to me, its a drive in my local area but is everyone coming happy to with such little numbers.
