New product - oil reservoir/catch can

Post by Ryan Rotary Performance » Sun Mar 05, 2017 8:28 pm

Thoughts on our new rotary themed oil catch can or oil reservoir for the omp adapter?

Can be anodised black, red or blue and configured to suit either application.

Would roughly be 0.6-0.8L but we need to firm up the details etc.

Either way thata plenty enough capacity for a catch can or oil for the OMP adapter

Is it going to be a baffled unit? I think I've seen people who've reported non-baffled catch cans having large oil burps that still make it through to the intake.
To Do List: HKS CAMP2 install; refurbish steering wheel; new exhaust; detail paintwork, possible respray

Hi Sam

It was nice to meet you and your other half at the AGM :)

Yes will have a baffle plate - I also have heard of un baffled units still pulling through to the intake :)

Likewise Carl, good to see you there. This looks like a nice product, might well keep an eye on it :)

The OMP adapter is next on the list mate just got to get the engine mounts done, then its the OMP adapter, then this tank solution and finally the lightweight pulleys :)

Where will the inlet and outlet be when used as a catch can? And where will the outlet be if it's used as a 2T reservoir? I suppose you could have a port on the bottom which would serve as outlet for reservoir use and as a drain plug for catch can use. It looks like it's a two piece design, with the top separate from the rest, so I suppose you could do two different styles of top piece - one with two ports for a catch can, and one with a filler cap for 2T reservoir (as shown). :-k

How's this thing going to be mounted?

Good questions!

So that design is based on the oil reservoir for the OMP adapter, will try and incorporate a low level sensor at the bottom and dipstick into the screw cap (we will see). I think those straw like level sights will ruin the astetics a little so trying to avoid those. Also there will be vented cap as to not cause a vacuum when drawing oil.

As for the catch version there will be no scew cap, an inlet and outlet near the top of the can with a baffle plate, possibly a double baffle plate incorporated inside with a drain plug at the bottom.

Eventually I'm going to offer a three piece design to replace the washer bottle but for now these will come with their own mounting brackets.
