Something for the R3 owners

Post by Ryan Rotary Performance » Wed Feb 05, 2020 6:05 am

As I know you R3 owners can sometimes feel a little left out here is something that is just for you.

The flasher unit will be custom PCB with yellow LEDs housed in a diffused lens

Other Specs materials etc yet to be fully worked out but what do you think to the design?

Shiny! I like the vent holes as trochoids. Presumably the LED array will have a relatively wide angle of visibility?

We will want to make it MOT compliant so do whatever it needs to make it so.

I asked this in a PM, but just for everyone else's visibility, gloss black versions would be awesome, as would different lens tints - orange, smoked, clear etc. :thumleft:

Like the idea of different lens colours, though that might be market / MOT dependant.

As an aside, is there any reason the ground is showing as red and +12V as black? I'm assuming they'd actually just be 'solder' colour, on a single-sided board with through holes?

Wouldn't get too caught on the actual PCB, firstly you won't see it as the glass will be diffused and its only the first iteration of the PCB.

Hell yes.

Obviously I'm just one future buyer, but I personally prefer the recessed looking one in the first pic (assuming they are different, as they look different)

Me like. Will buy if the price is right.

Given a choice I'd go for the matte black. I'm on a mission to make my car as black as possible and as a daily I'm avoiding gloss trim as it highlights the road dirt more. Even though gloss 'pops' more when clean.

Please keep buying more R3 parts for your car Carl, so we can have more mods :D

Can you make them relatively easy to swap out, then we can buy multiple options depending on mood on the day? (Half-joking...)

I do like the slight recess look in the top render, but I also really like the smooth, flat look.
Is the finish likely to be paint or just polished, like the interior piano black?

Hmm - I think what I'm saying is that they look great, whatever combination you go with!
