RRP Gauge kit - Group Buy

Post by Ryan Rotary Performance » Fri Nov 08, 2019 6:05 pm

I think its becoming more apparent these days that real gauges are an important part of engine safety, especially for those of you that modify and track your cars, so with this in mind I'd like to offer a potential group buy for the RRP gauge kit for the series 1 only.

For you R3 owners I can coming up with something but need to find some decent multi display gauges and produce a custom sandwich plate.,

Key Features:

- Oil pressure with low level warnings (OEM pressure gauge is a switch only warns of very low pressure)
-Oil Temperature with high temperature warning (No current OEM system)
-Water Temperature with high temperature warnings (The OEM sensor is good and the ECU gets accurate data but the gauge on the dash has a hysteresis so only moves in the extremis which is not useful or reliable for tracking)

The Kit:

Cost:

If you went and bought all this off the shelf it would cost:

RRP Gauge Panel - £125
Water Temp Gauge (52mm Crystal Peak/Warn Series) - £75.99
Oil Temp Gauge (52mm Crystal Peak/Warn Series) - £75.99
Oil Press Gauge (52mm Crystal Peak/Warn Series) - £89.99
Mishimoto Oil Sender Adapter plate - £49.99
RRP Water Sender Adapter - £39.99
Consumables (cables, sleeves connectors) £10

TOTAL £466.95 + £15 P&P

So if I could get this offering down to a max price £420 + P&P who would want one? Will need 10 names to make this a go and will be be closing off shall we say 1st January 2020.

For comparison the only similar kit is the Racing Beat kit which comes in at £742.

This is a lovely kit, I actually have this in my own car and it works very well as well as looking the part, the only downside is that it does not warn you of you breaching your set limits so your eye has to be constantly monitoring the gauges.

These gauges are also mechanical the kit I'm proposing is set up with electrical gauges, there are pros and cons with both but if you are a bit old skool and prefer mechanical then the Racing Beat kit is for you.

Prosport 52mm Crystal Peak/Warn Series

Gauge Description:

The New Prosport 52mm Crystal Peak/Warning Stepper Motor Series gauges (With optional Amber or White display) are simply stunning and a class above the general competiton. When the gauge is off the gauge face is still 100% visible through the clear lens but all the numerical detail disappears to leave a stealth looking dark faceplate and white needle remaining, then when the ignition is switched on the gauge face comes to life with fully illuminated super white or amber detail, illuminated white needle and audible warning sound that is all surrounded by a new design aluminum bezel. To keep the gauge face looking classy, clean and neat Prosport has located the adjustment button on the rear of the gauge so that there are no buttons visible on the gauge face.

Prosport Crystal Peak/Warning Gauges have been cleverly designed so that they can be free mounted on the dash using the base bracket included in the kit, so basically the gauge body doubles up as a slimline dash cup mount. Even with all this the 52mm Crystal Peak/Warning gauges are still extremely compact and can be mounted into most aftermarket 52mm gauge pods, however as the adjustment button is on the rear of the gauge any preferences/settings will need to to set up by the user during installation.

The clear lens design and striking ice white coloured needle make this a very desirable combination which proves very popular with modern performance cars. These gauges represent the very latest technology and perform a full self calibrate sequence each time the ignition is turned on, when powered on the gauge takes an automatic adjustment reading within the sender to zero the needle compensating for the correct atmospheric pressure etc, resulting in 100% accurate readings regardless of elevation or climate. These gauges use the latest microprocessors / Japanese movement to provide super smooth pointer movement for high precision readings under extreme conditions.

This extremely impressive series of professional gauges is absolutely packed full of features offering stunning looks combined with the required precision. All gauges in this series are supplied in presentation boxes with comprehensive fitting kits & instructions.

Gauge Features:

Clear lens / stealth faceplate design so that numerical detail only visible when powered.
New ice white needle design for that professional touch
Optional amber or white illumination (Selectable via button)
6 Brightness options (Selectable via button)
Day / night mode
Peak recall function & Fully adjustable warning
Rear mounted adjuster button
Optional & switchable warning/start up sound
Daisy chain power system (only one power supply required for multiple gauges) & plugged sensor harnesses
Sensors incuded with all temperature and pressure gauges
Slim and compact gauge body (30mm depth) with optional mounting base
Aluminum bezel

This is something which I would be very interested in. I echo the question above about installation (although if it's not too tricky then I could be persuaded to give it a bash myself). Presumably there will be some way that I can tap into the battery to add some USB sockets to mount elsewhere since it would mean losing the cigarette lighter?

(Unknowingly wipes out RRPs narrow profit margin  )

James

Thanks, already have trading deal with R-spec but hopefully when buying 30 sets i can negotiate a better deal.

The price quoted is the max price anyone would pay, its circa 10% discount at present but hopefully i can do something better

There would be room to mount one or two USB charging sockets alongside the gauges.

However, I hate having loose wires around the gear lever area, and the only reason they'd be there today is because of the existing cigarette light socket location.

Much better to find somewhere else to fit a USB charge outlet, depending what you use it for.

Good thing the R3 has a 12v socket in the centre console. So no drama if there's no USB port on any future R3 version. USB ports are only worth it if they're 2.4A anyway, most of my devices drain faster than a 1A charger can charge.

This is a very good point. I had wondered whether I could bring something out of the back and through the passenger foot well since I have a phone holder mounted on the side.

Carl, I was going to say with the R3 idea you showed in another thread, you could shift the USB sockets to the left of both gauges so any cables don't obstruct the view?

Carl I was just wondering are you able to get one of the USB slots wired direct to the R3 Sound System :?:

Then the Music could be played direct through the Speakers on the R3 =D>

Just an idea my friend :thumleft:
