Hi mate, out of interest how much would you charge to fit one of these kits?
Would be in the region of £100, although they will be quite a simple DIY. Will put some instructions online when I fit the first set

The location is totally different and is surrounded by an engine casting.

There's a thread on R3 oil gauges somewhere her and on RX8Club.com that may have images. I'm mobile and haven't the time to look it for a link here.

Update: Link to my thread here. And an image of the location:

A bit of an update of options: for those that want it You can have USB power point instead of three gauges.

Prices will be roughly £20 less for this option :)

If I offer the Pod alone, it will retail for roughly £110. I'll confirm closer to the time of release mate :thumleft:

You mean "USB power point and two gauges instead of three gauges"? ;)

Is that an off-the-shelf item, or did you make the gauge-shaped insert yourself? Haven't seen anything like that around. Does the USB panel have the voltage converter circuitry integrated, or is it a separate part? I'm guessing the latter, as the pic shows a small white plug on the wiring.

What kind of current draw / charge rate do the USB ports support? Would be nice to get high charge rate for devices (phones, etc.) that support it. If hooked up to the cigarette lighter power supply, with that circuit having a 15A fuse, plenty of power available. :)

Hi Carl,

Will these gauges respond to adjustment of the backlighting by the dial next to the DSC button? I ask as I usually use the white (daylight) setting all the time.

I will check what mine do. They certainly are white normally and go Amber when the lights are turned on, never checked to see what happens if I twiddle my knob, oh that sounds wrong!

I had a boost gauge in my previous car of this model.
If I remember correctly, the white illumination will be wired to a non permanent live. The cig lighter for example, so when you turn the ignition on they will light.
The red would be connected to the headlights circuit such as the centre dash dials. So when you turn the headlights on it would go to red.
So I would think in short if you do not connect the wire for the red illumination it will remain lit white.
I found these dials to be very bright. I connected a resistor in line on each wire which dimmed them to what was acceptable.

Potential to connect the power via the normally closed contacts of a relay, with a resister looped to the open contact and the dash light circuit connected to the coil.

Then the gauges would be bright white in the day and dimmer white at night.
