When typing a Quick Reply to a thread you don't see any of the forum library of emojis (aka "Smilies") though you can still use the ASCII equivalents and they will translate, for example that was

[-X To see a display of the most commonly used Smilies in the library you need to select [Full Editor & Preview] - this is the default for the first post in a new thread and is also what you need to add attachments (photos etc).
Once in the Full Editor you'll see a selection of Smilies to the right of the screen, plus the option to View more smilies. This will open a pop-up window with the complete selection.
If you still don't see what you're looking for then you have a couple of other options.
You can add an image, for example this might suggest that there wasn't much activity or you can copy and paste an emoji from an external library, most of which should translate and appear similarly here.

However, when using the Full Editor, always Preview before Submitting to make sure that WYSIWYG.
Oh, and be aware that some platforms, odd browsers and Tapatalk ,often don't translate even the library emojis and readers just see strange character combinations.

If you're posting using Tapatalk, then you have the option of including emojis using that interface. Most of the simple smilies translate to the browser display but many of the others don't, and might just appear as garbage.
