note to self. dont assume there is plenty of fuel in it just because it was full when you took it to pips.... its run quite a lot since then....

It was tricky on the circuit but lucky it wasn't that bad or we'd have been red flagged. Even a few of the drifters got caught out.

Thanks everyone for attending this years JDM show despite the weather, which made the day interesting
A special thanks goes to the following members that helped to put the stand together, run it during the day and of course dismantle it all at the end of the day : Simon, Andy, Chris, Paul, Leroy, Stuart, Steve, Tina, Caren, Rachel, Pat, Brian1, Brian2, Duncan and of course Ian's support throughout the day
Seeing happy faces, makes this all worth while for the events team to organise
@Wayne : You have me to thank for the Sausages & Bacon, as I got them from New Street butchers and the pigs are bred in East Sussex
Thank you for the Cream Teas from Chris and Andy, as all went down very nicely
I too enjoyed the day relaxing talking to various members under the gazebo

We had a great day again, thanks everyone. It was so good to catch up with everyone, old and new. Dads Taxi? great to meet you, extra special since you had driven all the way down from Leeds? to find the club stand. I hope you both had a great day, the stand was half empty when we met, with a lot of them out on track.
edit: I add a ? where my memory is suspect.

Had a great day at JDM 2023 surrounded by many rotary friends old and new. Car was faultless on track although I was some 10 seconds slower than when I was last out at Combe due to the track being wet and me being quite cautious.

My track video from the club session. Rain Sports were the correct tyre choice! Over 10s off my dry lap times 3 weeks prior.
Managed to miss the chequered flag at the end due to being focused on overtaking the RX-7.

Re: JDM 2023 - Castle Combe - Saturday 8th July **CLOSED OFF**
Awesome day, despite the weather. I couldn't have been happier with how the car performed, it is on rails and waiting for my ability to catch up and take full advantage - I slowly figured out that I didn't need to worry too much about traction in the wet as it had plenty and putting the hammer down just tended to make it grip more
In saying that, I have ordered a set of Racing Beat ARBs to reduce that body roll
Hopefully I'll see some of you at another day later in the year, I'm hoping to get out of Scotland for one more this year (possibly Snetterton). In the meantime, Knockhill has me covered...
On the way home in the torrential downpour on the M6, it must have sucked in some water (I've got an AEM), as it wobbled and misfired before throwing a code and not revving above 4.5k(ish), but then continued to cruise while I decided what to do - eventually I realised it was still running fine so cruised to the next services and shut it down for a bit. One lengthy start later and it was back to life again, codes cleared by me (misfire as expected), at first it didn't want to rev above 7k so I left it alone, just giving the odd run up to 7 until I'd been driving a bit, then it was business as usual with beeps being no problem. I thought I'd gone into limp mode earlier but I'm guessing it was something like water still in the intake or sitting in the filter, which slowly dried out/got sucked into the engine in manageable quantities, hence it not wanting to rev much at all after throwing the code, with the rev "limit" rising as everything dried out. No issues with starting it later in the evening when filling up near home either. So counting myself lucky there - it was biblical levels of water on the road, and I didn't even consider the AEM

Re: JDM 2023 - Castle Combe - Saturday 8th July **CLOSED OFF**
Another great day out, despite the weather!
Lovely to catch up with friends I have not seen for a while. Even then the day went so fast I still missed a few people!
Many thanks to all those involved in organising; Nigel, Ian, Chris and others.
Special thanks to Caren and Rachel for the breakfast services and to Lesley Moon for the delicious lemon, almond and blueberry sponge cake - I tried hard to resist all the sweet offerings, but glad I tried this, after Rachel forced it on me

I'll see a few of you again at Simply Japanese and/or Go Japan
