It’s a great lunch at the Kyleskue Hotel though. Worth the money in my opinion

Hi folks, I'm working the Saturday/Sunday that weekend but more than happy to tag along for a blast to Ullapool for the day on Friday!?

I've done the nc500 twice by car and bike and it's a fantastic run except for the endless camper vans clogging up the road through the single track sections hopefully the amount of tourists will have died down a bit by September though.

I also know of an alternate fast and windy section on the way back from wick back to Inverness called the struie which is much more exciting and has less cars on it than the A9, I can plot on a map if you're interested? It's only a short 25-30 mile section that still takes you south and straight back onto the A9 just north of Inverness.

I have a good local knowledge up here so if anyone wants to know anything about the area/routes just give me a shout!

Cheers,

Josh

Alright folks I'm in! Just booked accommodation. Wick has turned into Keiss for me, which is a 15min drive from Wick so I don't foresee any issues with that. Circumstance may change, and it may be possible to book Wick, but for time being, that's me all set.

Excellent, =D> we'll see you in Inverness on the Friday :thumleft: and thanks Josh, I think we found that route back from Wick the last time we did this a couple of years ago - and it was so much better than the A9.

So just thinking guys, since we don't all live in Inverness there presents the option of a meet n greet the day before we officially start the trip?

Usually the pre meet is on the Friday at stupid o'clock at Moto Services, Stirling with some of the English staying overnight at various places.
I am sure Ben will be posting arrangements for this year soon.
Its a brilliant trip folks and I will be thinking about you on all those twisties...following and meeting campervans, only joking they have been extremely rare in previous years.

Ah right, fair enough. I'll be in Inverness the night before since I'm terrible at waking up early and arriving somewhere 3 hours away from me.

Ben! The name is Andrew, in case you are reading via Tapatalk and can't see my sig to update the list :)

I'm considering joining for the Friday dash up to Ullapool. I'm due down in Buxton on the Saturday, so will need to sit down and check out the logistics a bit more thoroughly.

If it helps, on Sunday I'll be heading back to the Travelodge at Falkirk. On the last couple of trips we've got there after dark but with enough time to go and find somewhere to eat.
Somewhat late reply, sorry.

So time for me to post  :thumleft:

First of all a big thank you to Nigel who every year tends to keep the list up to date for me as I'm always short of time :thumleft:

So the plan for Friday in more detail:

I'll be leaving my home in Paisley at 0500 then heading to fuel up at:
Shell Old Inns,
A80 Wardpark Pl,
Glasgow
G68 0JB
I'll be here for 0530 to fuel up and fill my fuel cans, Feel free to meet me here at 0530 to convoy up.

From there I'll go to:
MOTO Sterling M9 Services,
Junction 9 M9,
Bannockburn,
FK7 8EU
I'll be there at 0600 just as an opportunity for people to join the convoy up.

I'll be leaving there to go straight up to Inverness :thumleft:

A couple of things to think about for the trip:
1. Make sure the car is good to go, You want to check there's no leaks, check the tyres are in good condition, check you have plenty of meat on the brake pads and just that you're happy with your car in general.
2. Pack some Pre-mix (if you use it), Engine oil, A fuel can (There's a good chance you'll need it) and some water for drinking and Screen wash.
3. Think about getting recovery if you don't already have it. In the event of a breakdown getting recovered could cost a small fortune as we're in the middle of nowhere!

That's about it, I look forward to meeting you all and I'm sure we'll all have an amazing time. :thumleft:

Any questions please ask.

Hi Ben, the other half (Christine) and myself will meet up with you at Shell Old Inns.
Not sure if we're going in the S1 (still got steering issue) or the R3 but will definitely be there. :thumright:

Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to join you on the trip this year guys. Some of you probably guessed as I've been very quiet on the thread for some time. My decision is due to my daughter having on going health issues and the current necessity for frequent hospital visits. She's very much on the road to recovery now thankfully but the last few months have taken their toll on the old man...

This year would have been my third NC500 with the club and its a bit of a bugger that I won't be there this year tbh.

For those new to the trip, I thoroughly concur with Ben's advice regarding breakdown and recovery cover. I had to have my car recovered 630 miles home after a freak failure in 2015...

Stay safe and have a great trip, it's one of the very best.

See you soon,
Rich

Unless anyone else is driving up with us on the Thursday morning we will probably leave Wednesday afternoon to get above the traffic chaos that is London and the M25. So a Thursday night meet sounds great :thumright:
I'll be heading off for my first leg shortly. If I don't see you before I was thinking of leaving the Falkirk Travelodge at 5.30am on Friday for the short trip up the motorway to the Stirling services where we'll meet up with Ben and Hannah and whoever else is meeting there at 6am.

Well we have had a few changes. Since our son-in-law is working abroad, our daughter Helen and grandson Aaron will be joining us for the trip.
We are hoping to get to the 6:00 meet if we can get the little one up and ready in time. See you there!
