Re: Beaulieu 2018 Simply Japanese - Sun 29th July - **CLUB STAND CLOSED**
I guess my only thoughts on things are that a member of the events team could have 'taken one for the team' and hung around at Beaulieu until they were sure all were notified.
Not fun for said individual, I guess, but would have potentially avoided the situation. Perhaps it's just me, but in my mind the events team are responsible for letting every member in attendance knowing what's going on - be that on a post on here or verbally.
Likewise, there's no signal at Beaulieu itself, but I can only presume there would have been between there and wherever said private meet had occurred - enough to at least post on here for example... And IIRC there was wifi in the main building (pretty shoddy wifi, but again enough for a quick post on here, even if it took 20 minutes to write and post).

I don't know why people seem to think there was no signal. I got full signal the entire time I was there.

I'm going on what I got last year on EE - which was the square root of jaff-all!

Re: Beaulieu 2018 Simply Japanese - Sun 29th July - **CLUB STAND CLOSED**
I am on EE and it was dead to very weak.
As has been posted I personally spoke to everyone who was sitting in a car informing them of the option to go offsite where we could provide catering, clearly not thinking to post something online was an oversight of which the entire events team is now well aware.
I personally apologise again to all those who "suffered" on the day as a result of our departure, especially our new members and all can be assured that, barring a general site evacuation by event organisers, the events team will be represented at events right up to the last minute.
Traditionally Beaulieu has been a fantastic family day for our members and I look forward to it being so again in 2019.

Chris was going to all cars on the stand including me and give us the option to stay or go with them because they don’t let us to put the gazebo due heavy wind etc.
So the event team done what they can do I didn’t fancy to get wet to so I went with them and then make a day in the area I hope next year will be better event looks like nice venue

Malcolm came & spoke to us while we were sat in the car & explained the options (poor bugger was soaked)
We opted to stay, went over to the museum, then left around 11am
Went to McDonalds on the M27 on the way home
We'd bought our own food/drinks so I tucked into scotch eggs, crisps, cake, bananas etc after the visit to McDonalds
Nigel - several modified examples of the GT86 turned up later on & parked up on the Tarmac area near the museum
Regards,Mark.

Now now kids, there are some very legitimate reasons for some people who were there to have been upset or unhappy at how the day went and for some suggestions being made on how to make sure the same doesn't happen at any future event, but it is also true that the events team did all they could (except to think of posting here ) to find and explain to as many people as they possibly could what they had decided as being the only way they could provide the food and drinks that had been promised and to give all those people the option to go with them for the catering or to stay at the museum.

All Nigel had was 2G for a phone signal on the Car Phone and even with that was struggling to keep in contact with Azam and Chris
There was no 3G signal on the Car Phone and 4G was non existent on Nigel's other Mobile Phone while at Beaulieu or round the New Forest
Nigel was at Beaulieu in May for a 2 Day Car Show Event and had Zero signal on both days
Sorry we didn't post up telling you where we were, but with lack of phone signal was impossible for us to do this

Just my 2 pence worth but if you have phone signal you could of called a member who was not there and got them to post up about the move. Hindsight and all that.

True Eddie, in hindsight we could have done a few things differently and folks comments above have been noted for the future but at the time I was trying mostly not to drown!

It's good that you guys are man enough to admit that there were shortcomings and that these will be addressed.
