Coffee was ok...got it from the furthest kiosk away...big queue gave away the popularity
Robert's bacon roll was 6 feckin' quid
My 44 MPG average on the way home helped me forget about the rain

I think you can take that as read if we ever encounter a similar situation again, subject to having wifi of course!Essex2Visuvesi wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:17 pmI have to agree.... under normal circumstances the events team are 2nd to none and Nigel and the others usually run a well oiled operation with almost Swiss watch precision. Thats why they received the best club stand at a recent event.ChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:05 pmI had been round all the cars with a driver sitting in them and advised that rather than stay out in the open where we were those that wished to could follow Nigel and others off site to somewhere where we could pitch the gazebo and do some cooking. Unfortunately there were no "pass outs" so once out it would be necessary to purchase another ticket to gain re-entry.
The alternative being to stay and tough it out hoping the rain lifted which we had been advised was unlikely.
Clearly your first "taste" of a club event left a lot to be desired but please be assured this was a real exception events generally run very well, even the Snetterton track day in similar rainy conditions earlier this year.
Hopefully we will see you at the Forge Action Day at Castle Combe in September.
This was our 4th annual pilgrimage to Simply Japanese and this was first time I have ever had reason to question the team.
May I suggest that should something like this happen again (and I hope it doesn't) that someone from the events team (or another club member for that matter) be tasked with updating the various sites to keep the stragglers/latecomers informed.
Remember we have the Japanese Performance Show at Stoneleigh,on August 19th,tooChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:05 pmClearly your first "taste" of a club event left a lot to be desired.. hopefully we will see you at the Forge Action Day at Castle Combe in September.
Sorry I didn't make myself known either. I will say Chris did all he could to let as many people as he could find know what was happening with the group who were leaving, but this really was the exception when it comes to the club stand at events and I hope it hasn't put you off - at other events in the past where it has rained we have been able/allowed to put a gazebo up and the day has always gone well despite the weather. This time it really was working against us and any attempts at socialising.
Thanks for reminding me of that oneSeeJay wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:27 pmRemember we have the Japanese Performance Show at Stoneleigh,on August 19th,tooChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:05 pmClearly your first "taste" of a club event left a lot to be desired.. hopefully we will see you at the Forge Action Day at Castle Combe in September.
Sorry your, and everyone elses's day at Beaulieu was, literally,a wash out ..but as regards the cycling, congrats on Geraint Thomas winning the Tour..a Team Sky rider yet again takes the crownShagrington wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 9:11 pm..the roads were closed for some 'big cycling event' - maybe I was in France somehow.
I was trying not to think about missed cupcakes
Unfortunately Beaulieu is well know for having phone signal that is period correct to many of the cars they have on display...ChrisHolmes wrote:I think you can take that as read if we ever encounter a similar situation again, subject to having wifi of course!Essex2Visuvesi wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:17 pmI have to agree.... under normal circumstances the events team are 2nd to none and Nigel and the others usually run a well oiled operation with almost Swiss watch precision.
