To be honest, I was getting a bit worried that this thread was getting cold. Kimberley and I are still firmly going to be there.

Travelling up on Wednesday to Crew, early departure to be in Kimgussie and a tour of the small Speyside Distillery at 14:00. Five drams later, Kimberley drives us to Inverness for overnight stay.

Will meet everyone at the rendezvous point sharply on Friday morning and have a great day.

If possible, should we exchange mobile numbers, WhatsUp, email addresses, etc so we can try to communicate in case of emergency?

For example, if anyone is late arriving on Friday morning, we should have a "head of group" *** to coordinate it all.

Maybe Nigel feels like volunteering to compile a list of those attending?

*** not me

Anyone got the route so it can be loaded to a sat nav.

Hi chaps, I am afraid due to the recent payment problems at work and the launch of my business next week I have to pull out. :(

Have fun, and don't forget to post pics and videos on FB.

Well, we left at 9:00 and are now doing a Solo 500.

Disappointing to say the least.

In a way it's better as have diverted via Skye and drive by Talisker and Glen Ord distilleries already.

Someone else's loss, not ours.

Solo or with company, you'll have a blast. Don't forget to post pictures. Wishing we were there with you now, we could have pootled around all 500.

Unbelievable that the 7 people still listed as going have simply not bothered to turn up. I think you are owed 7 apologies Wagner.

You will enjoy the run though as Leroy says above. Aim to get to John O'Groats to watch the sun set for an hour, hopefully it will be magnificent.

Silence from Wagner so I presume he and Kimberley are alternately sampling whiskys at every distillery possible as well as being stunned by the amazing scenery up the west coast. I hope the weather has been kinder to them than it was for we others at Castle Combe and Blyton this weekend.
Last leg today down from Wick to Inverness then down the Braemar Pass over the Forth Bridge which is a great end to the tour.

Understandable Wagner, but I trust you still enjoyed the scenery, and the distilleries in hopefully decent weather.

BIG SCOTTISH ROAD TRIP 2017 in September

Post by GreySilver Beast » Mon Sep 11, 2017 11:23 am

On behalf of the Events Team am very sorry that no one turned up to this Event to join Wagner and Kimberley on the NC500 Run :(

Wagner and Kimberley have driven all the way up to Scotland to join everyone on this Trip from Epsom in Surrey which is one long drive there and back :!:

We all hope you both still had a lovely time despite NO one else turning up and look forward to hearing all about what you got up too :thumleft:

Minisaki, I never received a road book. I'd have thanked you for it.

Never mind those who didn't turn up. It's just very bad manner not to let people know.

Nigel, you don't have to apologise on behalf of the Club or anyone else. It's not anyone's fault that people are rude and unconsidered.

Chris/Reloy, Kimberley and I had a marvellous time. We did what we wanted, when we wanted, stopped where we wanted, talked to wonderful people and made two owners of Jags F-Type and one Porsche Boxter S wonder what the hell was under the bonnet of my car.

Funny story for another day.

We stayed in Carlisle last night and are visiting Kimberley's parents in the Wirral now. Off home soon so will get thoughts together later.

If nothing else, thanks to those who didn't come. It made our trip better anyway.

The ignorance of people never ceases to amaze me.
I hope you enjoyed it though Wagner. I'm following in your footsteps in about 10 days time. I'm going solo because I couldn't make the trip you attended.
I presume it's still fun?

Unbelievably rude for people to just not show up with no word as to why - although to a lesser extent I know the feeling as a car salesman haha

Just home now after a leisurely drive down via Oswestry, Kidderminster and the Cotswalds. Almost thought of calling in to ChrisHolmes for tea :)

Kimberley and I were always going to do this trip no matter what and the fact that Minisaki was organising a Club group pushed us over the edge to book the hotels and firm the dates.

The fact that Minisaki couldn't make it never dampened our intention to go, nor the several people who - for good reasons - dropped off along the way.

The only thing that grates me is the lack of consideration of not posting here (now nearly 4 days later) that they were not going to make it. There's no need for apologies or justification. I hope you are extended the courtesy of a message should you be in a similar situation.

Onward and upwards. Now on to sell the beautiful 8 that took the 1,800 miles journey by using little more that a bit of oil and generous doses of premium petrol with shots of Protek-R.
