Manc, the CG Lock is one of the best 'mods' I have ever bought, I wouldn't even drive a van now without a CG Lock - seatbelts without one just feel so loose and unsafe to me now.

I done my first ever track day in a standard RX, and done numerous ones after , never had a problem with stock, I have know people wear out "special Pads " in an afternoon.
Car is more than capable.
The main thing is just to keep an eye on everything, before and after every track outing/session. Staying out for too long is more likely ,when you will encounter wear issues regardless what tyres, brakes your running

I really want to do a track day in my Rx8.

I think I will do a full brake system flush with new fluid before hand though and then I'll be more comfortable even though I'll be taking it easy.
To do list
  • Check engine mounts and diy recon if necessary.
  • PDR on vehicle due to car park idiots.
  • Repair/Recondition Alloys.

If the track offers instruction and you have never driven that track before I would strongly recommend you take it. Being shown the correct lines and braking points will make for a much better experience. And the cost usually about £20 will be the best value for money upgrade you ever spend.
I was amazed that when I did my first track day without instruction thinking I knew what I was doing that when I had some instruction I was driving smoother, less aggressively, using less energy, being gentler on the car and a whole lot faster!
