Trackday Helmet

Post by Pessimistic » Thu Mar 03, 2011 5:49 pm

I'm looking for a helmet for some track days this year, does anyone know if they have to meet the SA2005/SA2010 standards or not?

Can i just use an ordinary bike helmet?

Do they check?

Ive been reading on Internet and can't find a solid answer I'm reading those SA standards a lot and talk of MSA approved :?

Can anyone help shed some light on this for me please?

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Adam

I've never been checked, I use an open face rally helmet, which is up to MSA standards but isn't particularly upmarket and no one has checked it. But you see all sorts, Motocross helmets, proper race helmets, helmets from Dominoes Delivery bikes. A decent bike helmet will be more than sufficient or try checking on Demon Tweeks motorsport section.

as long as sits on your head and is done up they dont seem to care, there was talk a while back of banning motorcyle helmets at trackdays but nothing happened. I have a full face helmet but if i was buying again i would go for open face rally style

Any chance you can bring it a long tonight to the tunnel run so I can have a look at it, as I'm hoping to do a track day or two this year and will need a helmet. Cheers

Notice in LIdL's they are doing cheap helmets £30

wouldn't wont one if falling off a motorbike ,but surely good enough for track days, saying that they have got to pass safely laws to sell them
