Had a great day at Blyton today with a few mates.( Father and son who I have had my cars mot tested with for the last 20 years)
They had hired Blyton to test his dad's new build, his 1 series which he had been building for the last 6 years .Everything done to his own spec and a lot of issues along the way from what he told me today. In fact it took so much work his dad now feels he is too old at (73) to actually compete at the level he wants to do so they were setting it up to sell the car. His last race car he sold to some guy in Italy who is still running it and winning races by all accounts 10 years later.
Anyway the car is awesome and runs at 500 bhp+ . ( it's on racecarsdirect for anyone who is into bmws with 500 bhp. Bmw e87 race car) . Sorry crap with linkys.
Weather was bone dry and sunny all day hence my neck is frazzled..!
Cars there were the bmw race car, my mx5 , my mates supercharged mini and his sons bmw z4.
As much track time as we could handle today , on and off all day.
The mx5 was again fantastic and shared with my son it was faultless. It got plenty of action but never let us down, which was good because we had to drive it 110 miles home at the end. Was doing 1 min 19 secs laps in mine which felt pretty quick but not sure what times are good at Blyton outer circuit.
Anyway the race car set up was not completed due to issues with the abs and traction control which meant it could not get the power down so it's looks like we are going back...!
Happy days...!

Re: Blyton test day
What !!
At 73 he has another 10 years of racing at least.
I have a friend in his 80,s who still races classic formula 3 cars from the 60,s and he’s not slow
I’m not a young pup myself but if anyone suggests I’m slow they can put their money down and prove it
Tell him to go for it as it’s what keeps you young
Pete

Re: Blyton test day
Hey it's his thoughts not mine.!!!
He has always been ultra competitive to be honest and has done karts, hill climb ,saloon ,euro saloon etc etc to a high standard and many championship wins.
I don't know his credentials that well to be fair so I won't boast on his behalf but he's been building bmw race cars as long as I've been driving, so 30 + years of being a pure petrol head.
I could listen to his racing a stories all day long to be honest.

Re: Blyton test day
Back at Blyton tomorrow.
ABS and traction control sorted so his BMW is hopefully going to show what it can do.
Looking forward to seeing it in action as well as getting my MX5 on track again.
Beemer, Mx5 ,Z4 and stripped out Mini with the track to ourselves.
Happy days.
