We have an opportunity of a trackday at this historic venue on a SATURDAY 31st August. This circuit is steeped in British racing car history (and WW2 history). Trackdays opportunities here are quite rare so I, for one, will be there if it pans out. Many of us will be familiar with Goodwood, owing to the annual "Festival of Speed" being held there. For those of you who don't know much about it, there is a link below, but the circuit is in a beautiful setting near Chichester on the South Coast. The track first opened to the public in 1948 and is derived from an ex-military airfield, RAF Westhampnett, which was a Battle of Britain airfield during WW2. Douglas Bader flew his last sortie form that airfield.
Due to onerous noise restrictions in force at the circuit the Track Day format of the day will be;
1. Maximum of 48 cars.
2. 4 x 15 mins sessions of 12 cars per hour (with some flexibility to move between sessions)**
3. 98dB static noise, with a 92dB drive-by.
**It was hoped to run an Open Pit Lane format, but the noise regulations dictate 1-2 minute noise gap every 30 minutes, so it is thought sessions would work better after all.
Price will be £249, a little more than some other tracks, but a very rare opportunity.
We need a MINIMUM of 15 cars for this event or it likely won't happen! I would ask that only people who are certain they can make it put their name on the list. I appreciate though that some people may have to change their plans later through unforeseen circumstances.
If you want some more information then HERE IS A LINK to the Goodwood official site.
The 2.38 mile circuit is pretty flat, fast and flowing. Here's a video to give you an idea of what it's like to drive it
