Nürburgring Weekend 19 - 22 Sept

Right this is on!!

Long weekend leave am Fri back pm Monday, the 'ring is open Fri / Sat evening and all day Sun. Plan is to get there in time to get some laps in Friday then a "social evening"

. Lie in on Sat easy day looking around and "stuff" with some more circuits later in the day. Full day Sunday with the return on Monday morning.

Nothing sorted other than this brief plan.

No just delayed a little there's a couple of reasons, I'm just about to change jobs so getting a week off in Sep will be a struggle also by getting this "out of the way" means we can do the south of France, Italy and Switzerland without trying to squeeze a trip to the 'ring into the week.
I'm looking at late May early June for the Euro trip.

Right .... what do folks want to do about accomodation ?
I can find out good decent campsites.
Germany Gasthoffs are brilliant - the equal of Scottish B&B !! Very reasonably priced too. 20-40 euros per night per person ( Sadly used to be a GREAT deal but the pound weakens

)
OR ... can see if I can get neighbouring apartments all together or a large house from some folks I know over there. Can definately get us a good price from Eddy at Hotel an der Nordschleife including breakfasts.

I'm very interested. Had a few expensive weeks recently (and my approx £1300 insurance comes around again in Sept-Oct

), so a much shorter trip works for me at the moment.

just a thought folks .... especially for those for whom cost may be a block.

Ryanair and GermanyWings do low cost flights to Frankfurt-Hahn and Cologne-Bonn. Can do return for as low as £40 ! Each airport is only about an hours drive from the 'Ring. Hire cars are very cheap -- but NOT ALLOWED on the 'Ring.

So anyone with "spare seat(s)" coudl offer a cost share trip ? Worked for Sean and I -- tho' Sean may say otherwise after lack of sleep

Newcastle to Amsterdam is £400.
If petrol stays where it is, it'll be cheaper for us all to trapse down to DOver

damn you all, cannot make this as just dawned on me that it is the same weekend as Goodwood Revival - plus just shelled out for this year's holiday and a track day in December - clouds, linings & silver etc

The apartment/hotel manager got back to me and it looks like good news

Hve to say it's a bit of a squeeze getting 4 into my apartment !
Once we get definite numbers at those approximate prices then I can try for slightly less "squeezed in". I've not stayed at Eddy's house, so can't say what it's like. The apartments however do look over the bridge at Breidscheid and you ARE woken in the morning by the cars

THe date is a bummer for me, but I've asked permission of my mate and his band and have been allowed NOT to turn up to his 50th birthday bash and the band runs one short ...... keyboards, so they can run a midi file in the keyboard anyway

So, are we definite and do we want to look for other accomodation ?

Fair's fair ... you should stay home and look after Joseph and Siobhan can come along -- I've got a spare seat again

As you still need to work out how much I owe you then you could ADD to it the costs for the 'Ring. THen I give you the larger sum, you give me the difference ... voila "hidden"

However, Siobhan's too smart NOT to spot it later !!

Shame you can't make, but maybe we start up an annual 'Ring trip

( PM me the amounts and also the pic of Joseph in my kilt ! )
