Buying & Selling - simple rules

Post by Shagrington »

Many thanks

All for sale items to start title with - FS
All wanted items to start title with - WTB

Please make sure you indicate the product in the title. Not something like "got to sell" or "sad to see it go". If you have various items, then put the title indicating what various items they are e.g. "various electrical", "various car parts", "Various car accessories" etc. essentially, just use your common sense.

In the main thread please include as much info on the product as possible. If a car, then mileage, service history, general condition etc.
For other items, again as much information as possible please.
Pictures for any of the items are always great especially for some items some people may be unaware of.

If you have nothing constructive to say about a product then don't bother posting. If you believe an item is overpriced and you feel strongly about it, drop the seller a PM. Alternatively, leave it alone and the seller will soon realise it's overpriced and deal with the scenario as they see fit.

And most of all, don't forget the Price!!!

Once you do sell your item, please mark it as sold in the subject and thread and someone will eventually clear out the old threads.

As always with anything you buy/sell that has appear on the club website/forum the club can not be held responsible in anyway.

Many thanks to Arnie_O for raising the need for this post.

Before just "Bumping" a FS thread that's gone quiet, first consider why it's not selling...

Price?
Bargains sell in minutes on this forum, which suggests that some may have been under-priced, but if your item(s) aren't getting any response then you may have over-priced them.

Example bump "Price reduced to £..."

Location & Delivery?
If you've said "Collection only" and/or these are large items, then that may limit your market. Consider investigating delivery options, including other members travelling the country.

Example bump "Could wrap for transport via Shiply.com"

Missing information?
Re-read your original advert, and any follow-up posts, from the perspective of a potential buyer. Is there anything about the item that hasn't been mentioned, could get someone's interest?

Example bump "This also fits R3's"

Too Niche?
Is the item only applicable to a small subset of members and you just need to wait for the right one to come along? In which case, consider what makes someone part of that sub-group and highlight it.

Example bump "Just what you need for your JDM import"
