Space Saver 5x114 125/70/17

Post by teun » Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:06 pm

As my car will be sold, I'm selling my tiny space saver for the RX8.
The wheel is not new, but in great condition and for less than half what it cost new. The size is 125/70/17, with RX8 centre bore and PCD.

I bought it after having a flat last year (pictured) to get me home from some belgian fields. I should have bought it beforehand, as it would have saved me a wad of cash and a second trip to East Belgium.

As standard, I had it strapped to the top of the boot with a small ratchet strap, placing it in a similar way to the original bar does (pictured).
In that location it doesn't interfere with normal loading, I was still able to get a weekend's worth of stuff in, with 3p people.

These are rare second hand, being 17 inch and with our big RX8 centre bore. The wheel is clean and ready to live in another RX8 trunk.

Anyone know if I can replace my current 225/45-18 with this? I'm mostly concerned about my diff if it goes on the rear.

That is the correct wheel & tyre to match with the original 225/45R18

If it had been a wrong 'un I would have said something earlier, to protect the seller as well as any potential buyers.

thanks all, for answering questions.
For the record; when I used it, I didn't get any issues with ABS/DSC.

I could have added that this IS NOT the original alloy one, but the sizing is the same and it fits over the standard brakes.
Apologies for not beeing competely clear.

The genuine Mazda spacesaver is a steel wheel, not alloy, with the same seats for the stud holes, so you can use the original wheel nuts.
If your original wheel nuts fitted without issue that would suggest that it may well be the genuine Mazda spacesaver.
