R3 AC pump/compressor

Post by Mpv2k3 » Sat Jan 09, 2021 8:09 pm

Hi,

Not using the car much at the moment but i will be looking for a new AC PUMP over the next few months although not an urgency as such

Mine still works but once the car gets over a certain high Rpm and the ac is turned on the ac pump starts making a rumble sound where the bearing is on its way out.

Cheers pete, will hopefully look for one with lower mileage and hope it has less chance of the bearings failing too early.

You sure it's the compressor and not the tensioner?

Funny enough the upgraded tensioner pulley had decided to come apart and was replaced with a standard one.

Unfortunately the noise still happens from about 5500rpm

You might find those helpful if you're replacing the compressor. Took me ages to find those when trying to find new o-rings for mine!

When you change it.
Make sure there’s no swarf in the lines Etc.
Or it will be a early death for the new compressor.
You should also replace the drier.
Vacumn down the system min 30 minutes (Longer the Better)
Add the correct amount of PAG oil and A/C gas.
