A thank you to Ian.

Post by Ranjan »

I am in the midst of selling my silver coloured sports car and in the process of clearing out my stuff found the club t-shirt given to me by Ian at some track day or other, unopened and unloved; well no longer! I am wearing it right now and it is lovely next to the skin, lovely item; thank you club shopkeeper/picker of product.

I get to drive one of Ranjan's Silver cars, with a big V6 (actually an ex-Ranjan car but who's counting ;) )

Nigel,

That is one car that I fear would be a bit problematic for ingress and egress :(
Leave it with me I have one that will be fast and easy to use for you.

tangent Ranjan, but my friend has just bought an S2 exige and I spy one in your profile picture. How long have you had it and how are you finding it? I've yet to drive my friend's but it's certainly a nice thing to behold

Ooo, I love tangents but the mods on here seems to frown on such deviations :finger:

Dan, that pic is from 2015 and was my last track day with it before I sold it.

I have said this here before and will say it until I die, but the Lotus Exige is the natural progression for the RX8 owner. Everything we all love about the RX8 is there in the Exige but turned up to ELEVEN  . Then when you have become used to it on track (doesn’t take long coming from a RX8), supercharge it, and I promise you that you will meet nothing on track that it cannot keep up with.

If you want a comparison; around Silverstone National my fastest time in a LaFerrari (950bhp and the quickest road car I have ever owned) was 57.37secs; in the Exige S2 supercharged (275 bhp) it was 1.06.07.

Then once you want to upgrade from the Exige get a Ferrari 458 Speciale.

If only I had the money to make the progression!

Thanks for replying, though, appreciate it. My friend's exige is supercharged, but it's running a bit lower at about 240bhp I think - even so it's light and sounds glorious. Hoping he'll let me have a go in the damn thing soon!

Very interesting on the lap times, though. It's exactly the same principle as the good old racing Minis back in the 60s/70s.

That said, wouldn't mind seeing a LaFerrari thundering around Silverstone...!

If you want to see a LaFerrari shooting around Silverstone rock up to any GoldTrack track day, there is usually one or two going round. The guy I sold mine to goes regularly-ish. You might even catch me at one.

Another thank you to Ian as today was the first day trying on the 55th Anniversary hoodie during my morning walk along the beach; the weather was cold and wet but the hoodie was lovely and warm :)
Thanks Ian.
