R3 algae in lights

Post by pstables »

Picked up an R3 in Nov and must have been kept under trees / out of sunlight as the rear lights (and the front to an extent) had algae build-up all along the edges. I took the rear units out today and set to work;

I started with a paintbrush, then switched to a toothbrush but the algae was all along the bottom edge and some bits were too narrow to get into so I got a plant sprayer bottle with warm water and bleach and started squirting to clear the green. After flushing it along to the ends its now looking much better but on reassembly noticed a couple of bits I've missed but ran out of time. After pic of the rear (with new R3 badge). Was going to give the clay bar a go but alas, no time.

I had a little spider in mine so I drilled him to death with a .5mm drill bit via the rear!

Don't be tempted to try a spider, as that leads to chaos...
