What is the best way to clean the windscreen interior?

Post by Ainmhidh » Thu Sep 26, 2019 6:00 pm

I was driving home this evening and turned towards the setting sun, at which point I may as well have run in to a bank of fog as far as my forward visibility was concerned.
My usual tendency would be to wipe the inside of the windscreen with a dry microfibre cloth, but I figured I'd consult you wise folks as to any better options?

I always use papertowels and a spray window cleaner that uses dilute ammonia. You will get it from a double glazing trade centre such as Eurocell etc.
Spray it lightly on and wipe until dry with a wedge of folded over paper towels until dry. You will be amazed how much muck comes off.
Once done, I usually do the whole screen twice to be sure, no more haze.

I use an aerosol glass cleaner that I steal from work that is identical to one we use at work for cleaning screens, coupled with a microfibre. Comes up sparkling every time. I'll check the active ingredients next time I have it in my hand, but I have a sneaking feeling its an ammonia/isopropyl based combination.

It's amazing how little grease film it takes to make the screen so much more susceptible to misting-up.

A really clean glass surface naturally resists misting, which can make all the difference, especially this time of year.

As the trend is showing, any glass cleaner will do the job Alan. No need to waste yer fancy microfibres on it unless you really want to.

I use Windolene or Autoglym Fast Glass, whichever is closest to hand, applied with thick kitchen towl or a microfibre if there's a clean one ready. Doesn't really matter as it'll come up spotless with little effort either way.
