throttle bodies

Post by RandyMcShag » Tue Aug 23, 2016 2:56 pm

Just throwing this out here to gauge opinion as i am in the middle of planning and researching for a project that i want to get rolling within the next few months!!

I have heard bits about itb's being used for rx8s.
im not massively up on the mechanical side of the car/engine just yet.

So please throw opinions and knowledge at me regarding this please. Pros / cons / how would it improve the engine.

Nice write up here:
http://www.jenvey.co.uk/faq/big-single

The R26b was itb, but it was also 4 rotor and peripheral intake ports, so the path to the four chambers was brilliantly straight, making tuned inlet lengths both possible and very effective.

Obviously the 13b can only go from its one throttle body to a maximum of two, and the Renesis will always have the convoluted intake path, making tuned lengths a far more complex proposition. I wonder if these two things would make itbs fairly ineffective for the RX8?

Anyone tried it?

Yeah this is quite the learning thread for me really. Decide if I wanna try it.

I can't help thinking about the wonderful sound!

Packaging will be a bit of a 'mare, although the whole inlet system does have quite a bit to it. Image

Yeah sound would be amazing! It won't be in a rx8 shell, so space wouldn't be an issue!

Just wanna know if it would work, how it would work and if it would make a good difference or bad.
