Because of the side exhaust ports the OMP is necessary to cool the side seals. I forgot about the manual flow adjuster for it, this would get rid of the need for electronic control but you'd still need vacuum to the OMP lines.

Will I don't think they need vacuum, but are connected to the intake between the throttle body and maf, so that under intake stroke (measured) air is pulled through past the nozzles instead of sucking all the oil out of the lines

I getcha. Ignore the vacuum stuff then unless you want to run a brake servo, you could run a vacuum pump for that (find them on diesel cars, mount it in place of the air con) and run some maaaad side draught carbs. Make all the rotating assemblies light and revel in immense response.

been doing a little research today and actually been speaking with the mrs, she wants the car to be road legal too. i will probably rebuild this engine for the road but now on the look out for a engine specifically for the track. I will be getting the adaptor plate and intake ordered next week.

I wouldn,t be in a rush to order until you know what bits you want to use.
That way you get everything to fit and work together.
What carbs you thinking of, they do throttle bodies as well!!

i am toying with the idea of individual tb's otherwise a holley carb. i am going to order the adaptor and intake as that is the first part i will need for either of them.
i am also going to look (and get for testing) a standard tb on our rex now and see if i can adapt the motor to pull/move the carb/tbs in sequence. hopefully that will then leave less in the way of mods and not needing the 7 front housing, hopefully leaving just a custom remap. my research has been mainly on the 7 sites.

i am tempted with ida's but its looking very hard to setup. i will keep looking and reading up but for the time being it will be a carb setup.

UPDATE Kerri has now decided we have enough cars that are road legal so its time to concentrate on a track car. sooooo all effort will now concentrate on this setup. lucky really as i am useless at research and it takes me ages but i am in no rush now. i was unable to start stripping today weather was very bad.

I would go for throttle bodies, and an aftermarket ECU. Some years ago I had an Alfa 33 Quad Cam running a Lumenition ECU, and Jenvey throttle bodies.
It would allow the car to idle even with lumpy cams, something that couldn't be done on carbs. If you go for a serious porting then you will need an aftermarket ECU to be able to make it idle, and run at its best.
