The biggest difference with the R3 engine control relates to the OMP, which is a different design and runs 6 rather than 4 injectors.

The gear ratios of the R3 'box are different, though the diff ratio means that it's similar overall, but the spacing between some gears differs.

It also runs a slightly higher version of the ODB2 standard which means that;
- KOEO/KOER self-test function changed
- PID/DATA monitor function changed
- Simulation test function changed

The fan controller and it's mapping is different (with 5 relays rather than just 3), to match the characteristics of the revised water pump.

The alternator is different and as these are PCM controlled, the related tables are also different.

Revised Throttle actuator with active range monitoring.

The oil pressure increased and the oil flow circuit revised, with the filter relocated.

Cruise Control is fitted as standard.

oh one other thing does anyone have a logger text file for logging with a SD card on the Tactrix dongle

I've found one on -line that works but I'd like one that has more channels in it? and struggling to find the PID address details for the car?

I think you can modify the file. I've been meaning to do it myself

yes I've been trying to find a definitive list of PID's for the car

have you managed to solve your lean running yet?

No not yet. Mid way through putting a rx8 air box in

So a mazda edit question

how long does it take for a remap to settle in ?
as I think I've read somewhere the ECU needs a few key on / off events to write the changes into memory

as I've found I make a change to the MAF curve and the LTFT is zero for about 20 mins and then starts to wake up
and it looks like it won't apply the changes until you've done about 3 'outings'
then I see the target lambda / AFR being met

and this is with low LTFT numbers about 2% at most
STFT obviously does its own thing ( as it does on all ECU's I've seen) being up and down by 15-20%

the map adjustments apply immediately.

ltft takes a while, its all in the name LongTermFuelTrim. its the adjustments that are made over a long period of time. STFT is the fine adjustments made constantly.

so am I doing the correct thing by adjusting the MAF curve then? as I've read about other approaches where the VE table is modified instead?

Another related subject with regard to the SD card logging in the tactrix dongle

is there a way to get the date stamp working correctly as it only ever shows as being logged on the 31/12/2008?
