New kind of Tuning box with upto 10 maps

Post by shinyboy » Sat Jun 01, 2019 10:04 pm

Hi Guys,
I found a new type of tuning box yesterday?
the highlights were you can hold up to ten remaps your self and choose which one you want to load into the car on a whim.
I see its usage would be if you wanted --

Standard tune
Street Performance
Street Performance with pops and bangs
Economy for long journeys
track days

It looks very interesting the unit is supposed to cover amost all cars (RX's Included)
I am wondering what you all thinkabout it.
the one issue I think may arise is our cars need specialist knowledge and should be looked after by people that know all the little foibles of the rotary engine.
personally Carl Ryan has mapped my car and its great!!!! I wouldnt change it for anything

Hears the link to SA Tuning and the #TrueTune unit https://satuning.co.uk/truetune/

I look forward to your takes on this :?

Alan

According to their on-line checker, they can do "Speed Limit Removal" but not "Rev Limit Removal" on the RX8.
This is strange as the RX8 has a rev limit, that other tools can remove, and not a Speed Limit - other than JDM cars (which aren't 192 or 231s)

I also don't believe anyone that says...
Power: 231 246 hp +15
Torque: 216 236 nm +20
...as we all know that it's a massive stretch to even achieve 231hp with a NA Renesis.

Sorry but that just sounds my BS alarm

Just read through some of their testimonials they were all very obscure then got to a BMW 116d review.

Stock 118hp, 263nm
Stage 1 199hp, 419nm

So 81hp & 156nm increase. :race:

I didn`t bother reading any further. :-k

I'd say they are unlikely to have done a tune for every car listed and have probably just taken the published figures then applied a reasonable gain

and I've come across a firm that uses the Alientech kit before
lets just say the results were not impressive - they were just changing tables in a 'hit and hope' kind of method and the ECU torque control was constantly battling the changes

thats not to say that these guys don't know what they are doing though and have got good results with it

If genuine and they claim to have tuned 1000`s of cars where is the proof, where are the graphs with preferably independently tested results.

A BMW 535 review claims 272 bhp increased to 333 bhp, Superchips arguably one of the leading tuners claim their re-map gives 319 bhp with power curve graph.

HI Guys,
all of your points are valid regarding their maps, I dont know how much of it is them trying to seem better than their competitors and how much is hype and just not acheivable claims.
my interest lies in the technology not their maps, I am hoping someday we will be able to use the same tech and have Our own maps stored on a 'truetune' like device. I already have such a device for my Volvo C70 made by Rica a swedish tuning firm but it can only store the original map and one tuned map, I like it!
out of interest It would be good if they had EVER tuned a RX as their claims need to be supported with full engine modifications to get anything like their claims.
I feel that for the investment of a half day at Carls place he has wrung every last bit of power from my engine bearing in mind the amount of modifications to the engine. I am not confident in letting them loose with my engine.
but if anyone wants to give it a try please let all of us kno what happens

Alan

Being entirely honest, I can't really see much benefit in multiple maps.

Don't get me wrong, being able to turn on/off pops and bangs at will would be cool, but there isn't really much point in an 'economy' map in the 8, and there's not much difference benefit in being able to return to a stock map either.

For a turbocharged diesel? Yeah, great idea. Nice low boost tune for eco runs, nice torquey map for fast street and then a daft full boost tune for track use, great idea. Same goes for anything turbocharged, but on an 8? Useless. People will just sit in the balls-out map all the time.
FrankenRex2, leaner and meaner. RR Full Bridge rebuild with Race Extension porting, Cusco Strut Brace, RB Header, RB Dual Res Decat, Pettit Catback, Eibach lowering springs, Maserati 6 pot brakes, braided brake lines, custom built DRLs, track wheels, Custom front and rear lights, braided clutch line, RB ARBs - the list goes on!

how about, mot map (nice and lean) performane map (for track stuff) and pop and bang map (for childish stuff)

but yeah, im not seeing any real use on a 8... or, from my point if view, any background that would make me trust that companys hardware with my engine,.. especially as i can have all that with a tactrix and a copy of mazdaedit lite...

edit, warpcoil typed faster than me

Does that mean a lower emissions map if possible would reduce my Band M charge of £570 pa Road tax?

nope, dvla doesn't like giving discounts, but it would make it easier to get through mot emissions if you have a 'margina' sports cat on it...
