Useful info from Will from another thread:
Put it this way, asking any engine to make more power is always going to place it under more stress, for every 1 hp more you get from a petrol engine, you're making about 3 hp more heat for instance. However a relatively small shot of laughing gas (Nitrous Oxide) is no worse than others and better than several if it's properly tuned. Black Halo Racing sell a wet Nitrous System and a throttle body spacer and reckon that a 55 hp shot requires no tuning (I'm not sure I agree with that, I'd want to add fuel or retard the ignition slightly but that's a very safe approach).

This is the Nitrous Oxide system

This is the throttle body spacer that allows easy installation of the jets

Might just buy a proper bottle :)

It seems like the zex kit is popular in the states and CraigRX8 didn't report any problems but I like the idea of a progressive system. The Wizards of NOS REVO systems sound pretty good.

do you use the car for anything that will justify spending £1500 on it other than going to and from work??
not to mention the fact that it could blow your engine to pieces.....i can understand if its for track days etc but are you going to use nos on a day to day.....

If that recreation involves embarrassing the VTEC boys (aka The Ones that go BWAAAAAAAAAAAH!) or mildly tuned Subaru Imprezas then NOS is a good idea.

I could be interested in a bit of NOS
I would be happy with just another 20-30 Hp for trackdays to give me a little boost out of the corners.
I wasn,t looking to spend £1,500 though

WoN do a kit thats about 500 quid basic, if you add a purge kit it takes it up a bit depends on if you want to clear moisture out of the lines etc,
also things like bottle size etc all add the cost but looking around 750 i think you could have something decent.

not knocking NoS at all, just dont think it has its place on a car that isnt on track or drag etc.

It's a perfectly legal modification on a street car, but since you're not allowed to go faster than 70 mph on the street and an entirely standard RX8 will easily pass that speed without any trouble at all, the only place you'll use it is on a track. I'd like to have a play with it on track, it would mean you could be a gear higher out of most corners and flick the NOS switch on and pick up harder out of the corners than a stock RX8 a gear lower.

Its actually only a legal mod if theres a warning sticker fitted to the car "ie explosive gas" I cant remember the correct sticker yiur supposeted to have....
In short if you come across a toss pot policeman etc they could have ya or get the kit removed 'bottle' right there (this happened afew Times a couple if yrs ago to afew unlucky ppl)

This would be the warning label you'd have to carry.

Possibly this one too.

Wizards of NOS wrote:Whilst there is a legal requirement for commercial vehicles to display a suitable sticker, this same rule does not apply to private vehicles, which are not even obliged to display a green compressed gas sticker. However, displaying such a warning sticker might well be advantageous to you and the emergency services, if you were unfortunate enough to be involved in any kind of accident, as this would inform them that you were carrying a container of compressed oxidiser in your car.
