Decided to write this one up, mainly because I think it’s probably one of the coolest PZ I’ve seen but also because I still think it’s on the originally engine and I find that really interesting !
So the basics:
Not so brilliant black 56 plate PZ
Full Mazda service history, all at TW whites
153k miles on the original engine
£750
Sound fun already right!
In all seriousness I could see the vultures circling for parts on this one and after seeing the car and how good the history is, it’s far too nice to break. At some point this will make someone a fantastic cheap pz once all the work is done.
It starts hot and cold (takes about 15 seconds regardless of temp) from possibly the smallest battery I’ve ever seen connected to an Rx8 and the rest of the ignition system looks knackered
The plan:
First of all I’ve got to get it home, it’s got to get from London to Staffordshire for its mot which will conveniently be booked in for the day I collect it….
The plan of attack will be to go down armed with a a new ignition system, starter motor and maybe a few other helpful bits to get it going again. Then to drive it to the nearest Halfords for a brand new battery and then straight back up North!
Next…..compression test, for which I have a good feeling.
If all is good on that front then it needs a full system flush and fluid change.
After that it’s got some hacky aftermarket cat back on it which will coming off and replaced with a genuine PZ one.
Snapped springs will be replaced and a general suspension overhaul. I suspect a few bushes and links will need replacing at that Milage at least ! Maybe even the lower arms.
Once all that’s done, maybe we can get it to the moon
Few pics in its current state

SUFFERIN' SUCKATAGE!
Excited to see this one progress (and see it in person).
I'm presuming you've got all you need, but if you need a PZ back box I've got one here

Re: Half way to the moon PZ project
I believe so, mainly because of the meticulous service history. Will confirm engine numbers ect when I get it
