Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231
I need to decide wether I want my number plate mounted somewhere similar to that or far lower down... Lower down is a bit more appealing to me but produces issues in secure mounting. :/
The Red 8:
Racing beat Revi, Tein street basis z coilovers, RRP Mk2 Coils (and one Mk3), Stock catback, Cruise Control (Zoom Zoom).

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231
LC05 VRY is officially uneconomical to repair due to rust.
This may be why only one sill was replaced - Chris confirmed similar adhesive used on both sideskirts, despite one being removed to replace the sill and the other apparently being 'untouched'. It appears that the seller knew exactly what was going one, hence the sale.
I am now considering whether to break the car for parts completely, and restart with an alternative, hopefully good car or to swap the parts over to a broken one and try and start again. Although I'm not sure as to what the total value of the broken parts would be, it'll likely be cheaper to buy a good one than to swap the parts and rebuild the engine.
Any ideas on values for the following? (Parts wont be available until December)
Vertical door hinges
Full genuine mazdaspeed front bumper and side skirts (repair to one)
Mazdaspeed rear diffuser
Mazdaspeed oil cooler ducts
Carbon fibre bonnet
Carbon fibre bootlid
Carbon rear trunk lid
R3 sfyle e/rotary rear led lights
Rear adjustable brace in boot ( rear strut brace )
321Ti 3" manifold back system
Tubular exhaust manifold
Rotary revs uprated coil packs with magnecor leads - unsure of age so unknown quantity.
Rotary revs 100mm maf tube
Lightened pulley set
Lightened flywheel with exedy stage 2 clutch - used
Racing beat enclosed induction kit ( cai )
Various engine covers carbon dipped
Evolve interior
Kode short shift
Cmst 18x9 wheels with Pirelli pzero tyres - good tread. 3 are 2015 production year, one is brand new.
Blue stuff front pads
Dba discs front and rear
Ferrodo rear pads
Racing beat front roll bar
Racibg beat real roll bar
Racibg beat droplinks all round
Hsd monopro coilovers
Engine (allegedly covered 4219 miles since last rebuild with goopy apex seals, new side seals etc and full
master seal kit, with 9alegedly) housings refaced , new water pump , new oil metering pump etc , mild ( street ) port on housings - compression readings can be seen above. In the 5's but no hot or cold start issues. Put out 320miles to a full tank, twice, on a motorway journey during one of the 15 times I drove it.
new handbrake cables
Doors etc are all in reasonable condition. Drivers side doors used to be red.
Any feed back on parts value would be appreciated.

Swap everything over. Selling and re-buying will be silly money. You can then use that cash for a respray as those colours look ace.
I'm sure Chris is looking for something to do so he can get out of decorating. I'll happly pitch in some time to swap bits over.

There is a value crossover point in there somewhere, but I will have to value the used parts before I can work out where that is.
I really like that Nemesis in the For Sale section but I am not buying another one until I can go and view it beforehand!

I fully commiserate with you pingping, I was in the same boat with mine. If I could get hold of whoever decided rust proofing wasn't necessary on European models of the car...
One will come along. There are enough people who care about it and are taking the steps to protect them that soon enough there'll ONLY be good ones left.

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231
So thats the end of this thread. LC05VRY has gone to BigPete.
Thanks for making that a pain-free process.
We have decided to just buy a new car rather than chase another RX8, so we've bought a new 2020 Suzuki Jimny that I can take shooting and wifey isnt scared to drive.
If you don't mind, I would very much like to hang about and lurk on posts as you're a good bunch!

I am sorry this latest foray into RX8 ownership was painful I am sure another RX8 will join your family one day and until then of course you are welcome to stay around here and share in our highs and lows.
When you are over in the UK then don’t forget to check on local meets, shows and track days for rotary “fixes“

Thomas,
This is such sad news and I thought I had a bad time with my last RX8; you had it worse.
Take care and keep safe.
If you fancy driving a MX5 on track give me a shout.
