Re: My R3
For me the mono sports wouldn’t achieve all goals without the EDFC. They are too hard for the road at anything below 8 and would be too soft for track above 8.
It’s easy enough to adjust them manually but the real bonus is being able to play around with the settings on the fly.
I tend to leave them on 16 (soft) a lot of the time flick into 8 when pressing on - then in adaptive mode too.
I think I need to increase the ride height a little too.

Re: My R3
Since fitting the Tein Monosport I've managed to do a couple of trackdays at Oulton Park and Brandshatch and I'm very impressed with them on the car.
I had them dialled 3 clicks from full hard.
Although the dampers are easy to adjust, it's just an inconvenience to have to keep adjusting them manually, so I will be looking at getting the Tein edfc for them sooner than later which was always the end plan. Hopefully before my double track day at the Nurburgring in April.
Just need to decide whether to go for the Edfc
Active with GPS or the Active Pro with GPS.

Re: My R3
To achieve my fastest around Coram at Snetterton (indicated 98mph) mine were set at 2 from hardest at the front and 4 at the rear. In the dry have always used these settings, at most tracks, and found adhesion and traction excellent when on Federals. Had the Teins on for many, many years before going to EDFC, because of the faff altering them manually, and once having driven home from Snetterton without first altering them.

Now a distant memory unfortunately.

Re: My R3
Well, I finally purchased the Tein Edfc Active with GPS to compliment the Tein monosport coilovers already fitted and had it installed recently. I still need to play around with finding a suitable setting.

Thanks. By removing the ash tray allows enough space for the controller to fit and still allow the lid to close.

Re: My R3
Thanks.
I've not driven my car much since the install but what I have done I've enjoyed it. I'm Still playing around with different settings, added some extra steps on the speed SL mode.
Having it on track at the Ring in April will be the real test. Thinking of just using the GL mode only with my manual setting. Don't think the SL mode will help unless I more less change all the settings at each speed level so its more firmer.
Overall so far I'm impressed with it.

Re: My R3
Really pleased to hear you’re enjoying it.
There are certainly lots of options for set-up, aren’t there?
Have you by any chance compared the continuous adjustment mode with the ‘step’ adjustment mode yet? (From memory and without reference to the instruction book I think that’s the L and A modes? ... what I’ve (I’m sure incorrectly) called the continuous adjustment mode is the one described in the instruction book by a smooth curve between settings, rather than small steps)
I’ve not yet had a chance to try this, and wondered if you perhaps had?

Re: My R3
Yep, theres loads of options you can have. The smooth curve as you describe is the L mode. (GL and SL)
At the moment I currently use G_L and S_L set up. For the G_L setting I use memory 2 (G2) and for the S_L setting I use the memory 1 (S1). This is just for road driving and gives a softer ride I find at the moment.

Re: My R3
I just feel like the L mode makes it a smoother transition between each set step as it's making finer adjustments constantly between the steps and not having to adjust multiple steps in one go. Also you don't hear the motors working so much, not that they are too noisy anyway.

Not much updates.
My car had trouble getting into gear now and then. Had the clutch slave cylinder replaced which seemed to have been the issue as mine wasn't moving much....

Re: My R3
Just a small update as I haven't used the car much this year with lockdown and planned trackday trips cancelled
I recently took a visit with the car up to see Neil at Custom Detailing for some TLC and had my spare set of R3 wheels fitted that had been sitting in the garage for over a year since I acquired them as my wheels where in quite a state.
Unfortunately I found out that two of the wheels were buckled and would need sorting at some point
Here are some pictures of the small detail. Apart from some age related marks and scuffed splitter the car is doing okay.

Re: My R3
After discovering that i had two buckelled wheels i decided that it would be more cost effective to get my original R3 wheels refurbished and powder coated as they where in a state.
I was planning to get the closest to the original colour as possible but, whilst chatting to the manager I mentioned that there was another colour I had considered......I was then handed pads containing different shades of colours which only made my decision even harder to make.
And to top it off, I was thinking of a satin/matte finish and all the samples were only in gloss so I couldn't imagine how they would look.

I was back and forth with choosing a close original colour or the new colour and in the end I took the gamble. I then had a few restless nights stressing over the choice I made and hoping that they would be okay

I collected the wheels today and i treated them to a new set of Rainsports3 while I was at it.
The wheels are different and maybe not everyone's cup of tea but, they have grown on me and look different depending on the lighting.
