I've been in Dan's car and can confirm it sounds superb and pulls really well right through the rev range.
It does show how difficult it is to squeeze extra power out of the Renesis.

What aspect of the increase were down to the RRP MKII coils and how much was to do with the remapping?

5-6HP on the face of just changing the coils across the whole range seems pretty good, but, are there other factors?

It's not a simple answer @RRP.

The summary of what was changed between them:

- Coils replaced
- Air filter replaced
- AC pump belt removed - AC pump did have a slight whine to it and wasn't easy to turn by hand
- Map adjusted for dwell and also some fuelling changes

On the face of it I would say (and it was noted by Josh at RR) that the bump in torque across the range is probably attributed mainly to the coils and - as it's the bit you're most interested in ;) - I would say that the car seems to run in a far more stable way and starts much quicker and easier than it did before. With an engine of this type the starting is the bit I note the most.

This morning was -3 degrees and I went out there, turned the key and away it went - which it didn't always do before with the 585s (it always started, but due to the engine porting it takes some coercion :P ). Worth noting that the 585s were ~18 months old, but hadn't covered more than about 5,000 miles I'd guess.

Wee update. Finally got around to installing the altered indicator relay, my other modified rear light and my colour coded LED 3rd brake light - video currently uploading to the Tube of You for everyone's enjoyment.

Also touched up the Maserati front brakes which were stone chipped and so encrusted with dirt that some bits would't come clean. Just a quick couple of coats, but stumbled on a bit of luck that the Hammerite Smooth Yellow paint is a bang on match for Brembo Yellow :D Later today I'll add the customer brake decals to them and it'll need a clean.
IMG_20190112_144826.jpg
The PZ wing mirrors have been plastidipped for now, but will be going gloss black eventually - pic will follow when they're fitted later today as well.

You may be wondering why I'm going to all this effort all of a sudden. Well, I may have been chatting to Alex Kersten from Car Throttle and he wants me car back for another feature comparing his brand new street port to my Bridge with race extension :D The car has actually changed quite a lot cosmetically since the last feature in October 2017, and the engine has changed a fair bit to say the least!

Looking forward to it!

Whey!!

Unfortunately filming has been postponed as Alex's RX8 isn't a healthy bunny. Fuel pump woes. It's being fixed, but going to take a while!

So, for now you can enjoy the wonders of these pictures I took today

Those big yellow calipers were just a bit too big and bland without some kind of writing on them...

Cue... MAZDERATI!

I have a spare S1 light here, but struggling to plan the best way to cut in to it... I might just hack and slash on this one so I can have a play with the innards... :-k

On another note, the worry of plod pulling me sans-front-plate have been dealt with today:
