ChocolateTeapot's Sparkling Black Cherry

Post by ChocolateTeapot » Fri Nov 13, 2015 10:00 pm

It's about time I started one of these really, and it's the perfect opportunity since the car just got out of the spray booth today at Jay's joint venture bodyshop, JR Motors and BackStreet Customs. After a year of lusting after a black cherry 8, it's become a reality but with a little twist of my own - [urlw=https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 996&type=3]Sparkling Black Cherry[/urlw]

Very nice Daniel 8) - park it under the light in the car park at the Surrey meet so we can at least get some idea of how it might look in daylight.

ChocolateTeapot's Sparkling Black Cherry

Post by jrmurray1108 » Mon Nov 16, 2015 1:48 pm

Dan has just collected his car, he is happy for me to post some pics so here they are :D

Thank you very much for commissioning us to do the paint, it's been a pleasure working with you to get what you wanted and we hope you are happy with the result.

The sum of paint is a black primer, a black base coat, with a red paste pearl top coat which was then laid over with a hurricane red FX fine flake, this was then finished with plenty of coats of liquid glass speed gloss. Daniel did want a candy finish over the top of that as well but we were concerned the amount of paint would seriously hamper his 0-60 times

This is now Daniels colour, we will never reproduce the same mix so it will remain a true one off.

It is incredibly difficult to capture the colours and effects of the FX in pictures, I look forward too seeing some in the sunshine.

That's a nice paint job. Possibly a tad more sparkle than I'd go for, but I love the depth of the finish. She is a thing of beauty. Proper job by Jay's team :thumleft:

It's really good looking, there's no doubt about that, lovely colour transitions in light and dark. Under streetlights it has a copper glow whereas, as you can see above, in daylight with cloud cover it has a purple colour, I'm looking forward to seeing it in direct sunlight! :thumleft:
