Well that's annoying.Clive wrote:I know a few of you wanted to go to Castle Combe to see the car, but sadly although our promotor had a written contract they have told him we cant race and another series has taken our slot.
Quite rightly he is fuming as his race club has supported and paid money to Combe for many years.
I have Snetterton next Saturday then after that quite a few coming up, so I will post up a list after next weekend
Did the promoter get any more details?

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car
Snetterton Race Report 4th July
Although we had a field of 32 cars, I was very disappointed to find I had only qualified 8th on the grid.
1st race was a bit messy at the start and caution was needed and just as well because just a couple of laps in, the Team Hard Golf decided to come just about to a stop when it broke his gear box and this lost a couple of spots while taking avoiding action!. To be fair the Team Hard mechanics obviously saw what happened and thanked me for not taking ramming their car. Managed to get a couple of places back, but finished a lowly 6th and looking at the times that were consistent it showed lap after lap I was getting the best from the car I had under me.
The 2nd race was decidedly wet, so I put my 7 year old Dunlop wets on, which had always been allowed in Track Attack, along with several other cars that had changed to wets, indeed I even checked 2 weeks before the event that I could still use these if needed and was told they were OK for now. Before going out we changed the spark plugs and found a damaged electrode wire. Even on the warm up laps I knew we had found the lack of pace that had plagued me all day! I then so enjoyed what is maybe one of my best races ever because I had to think.
You will see on the video that will come that whilst quickly into third, I decided to just let the front two sort themselves out. The overdriving Civic slid off shorty after leaving just the powerful superlight Peugeot ahead that had set the pace all day ahead and yet again I know I had time to work out where he is quicker and where he was not, so I knew the parts of the track where I could take it easy.
Once past I just backed the pace down and drove on my mirror as I have raced enough to know that you only need to be in front to win------not by half a lap taking risks . Some of my fellow competitors will be very happy to know that I have just ordered new wet “Road” tyres that will be 200% complant in any type of racing I chose to go in and I know they will be quicker in the wet than the old wooden tyres I won yesterday’s race on .

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car
I'm now miffed about not realising the car should have been quicker down the straights in qualifying because had I changed the plugs and had the power I then had in the second race I would have at least got the two if not three in front of me in the first race,
Shame I didn't get the rear camera to turn on as you would have seen the second-place car floating around the back of me for most of the race,
