The big yellow thing with the huge spoiler spitting flames does certainly draw attention compared to the clios and civics...

I hope you get the sponsorship in place - although part of me enjoys the 'reality' of the driving when you're running a 'normal' manual, you've got to chase those seconds and be the best for RX8's everywhere :thumleft:

Only 5 years!!!!!! But without your determination and skills of driving and enlisting the right experts it wouldn’t have come together.
Well done Clive, and all who helped, in making such an impressive car.

I now have the last part of the Donnington jigsaw.

Coming out of Coppice I could have got under the leader but I risked taking him off, he then made one move to the right, which was fine so I decided to run down the out side to get a good run out of the Foggerty Esses and get him leading onto the straight.

Philip has diagnosed what happend and I was probably only a foot or two wider than I had been at times, BUT Philip worked out it was as I changed down to third that made the rear let go on oil ---------------- So pleased that the Civic that ran the same line behind, pulled out of it with his front wheel drive or we could have have two written of cars.

That look really unfortunate, and pretty unavoidable. You were not over-braking, since you were slowing at the same rate as the Clio. And in the wet it's usually front locking that is the problem, not rear locking, so to have it snap round like that would have been a surprise. You also got on full opposite lock as soon as you could, but there was no saving it. Fortunately the Clio was able to stay on his brakes hard enough to avoid T-Boning you. I've got to say that was some good driving from him, because it would have been easy for him to lockup as well when he saw you spear across his front.

Out of interest, do you heal-and-toe during down changes? It's not that obvious from your in-car videos.

Had there been a oil flag out from the Civic that dumped oil on the out side line, I wouldn't have ventured out there and the marshals told about oil as soon as I got out the car. However I was never going to moan at marshals ever who give up their time for free so we can go racing.

Heal and toe, only track I have ever found it to be speed advantage is Cadwell.
Now I know exactly what happened, I don't think bringing the revs up would have made a difference as it was slowing the rear wheels down that made it lose traction :(

I think that’s what Pete is referring too . I was told that by heal toeing it helped balance the car under heavy breaking and down changes in particular when wet . As if to rev slightly so when clutch is let out, the flywheel is already spinning more so less load to lock up . That’s just on standard car on track days. He did also say that a lightened flywheel is also a big help which I’m sure you have .
Still
An awesome effort and good season tho

Proud to say I upheld Mazda Rotary Honour in 2019 and last night at the awards ceremony, I was presented with the trophy as a Track Attack Champion for the second year running.

Funnily enough, it was Kelly (RX-8 owner) who presented my trophy and she did well, winning her class as well =D>

Been a great year for the car producing these results below and best of all no real mechanical dramas with 46 races now on my excellent Rotary Engine, something a lot of big power piston racers would love to be able to say 😉

2019 highlights
10 class wins 2 Overall wins plus one 2nd and 3rd places overall
Plus 6 Fastest laps

Many thanks to all who supported me throughout the year.

Received my new slick tyres today, well new to me.

These 10" wide soft Yokohama's were allegedly used in Macau which was the last race in 2019 on Rob Huffs World Touring Car Cup car.

They do look very new and still have good meat on them, all six for £170 delivered has got to be a result and even more of a result if the car goes faster

Getting them changed onto my rims in readiness for the Brands Press / Test day.
Hopefully these tyres will help the car be more competative in the odd Thunder Saloon or All Comers events this year.

But Track Attack is still my main series.

My set of Extreme (road/track day tyres) that found me lots of time will be up for sale soon, as I am going for very soft compound for this season because as my downforce is going up, the car is becoming kinder and kinder to its tyres :thumleft:

I so hope all your comments become true

I raced cars on slicks for many years and know the difference they make when they come alive properly, sadly when I tried ex-BTCC tyres once before they were too hard for my car and really did not work for me. I was faster on my trackday orientated tyres!
